St. Georges C began their Division 1 campaign with a match against their B side and triumphed 6-4. Miles Chan impressed with a treble, Steve Silk notched 2 and Kieran Dabbs one. Matthew Man with 2, Mark Jackson 1 and the doubles, kept B in it. Champions Rugby A inflicted a 9-1 defeat on newly promoted Potters Green with Matthew Outhwaite and Adrian Pilgrim unbeaten. Jesse Kendrick-Hill weighed in with two but was squeezed out by Ryan Stockham. County Council A overcame Rugby B 8-2 with Pat McCabe in scintillating form, gaining his three. Chris Brewer and Phil Paine chipped in with two wins whilst Ryan Lines took 2 in reply. Colebridge B were no match for their A team whose trio of Michael Browne, Ian Ferguson and Kate Hughes collected every point.

Relegated Enigmas forced a draw in their first Division 2 clash with promoted Rugby C. Gary Jackson and Steve Proctor took braces and the doubles with Anshul Satsangi taking his 3 and Niall Herbert and Paul Lilley winning one apiece for the young visitors. Free Church B beat St.Georges D 7-3 thanks to Michael Ho’s maximum. Luke Spencer’s double, Jeff Harris’s single and a Ho/Spencer doubles success saw them home. Brian Aston won 2 for the Saints, allied to Jimmy Pittaway’s one. Nomads A killed off hopes of an opening win for promoted Free Church D taking 7 points through Tony Thomas 3, Ian Beasley 2 and Andy Davies 1 +D. Roald Myers enjoyed 2 excellent wins on his debut at this level. St. Georges D won 8-2 against Eathorpe A with a triple from William Fletcher. Kevin Finn and Jimmy Pittaway recorded doubles with young George Allison, on his Leamington debut, taking two impressive scalps.

Rugby C entertained Free Church E in the 3rd Division and honours were even. Danny Orr’s maximum for the home side was well supported by two from Phil Morris with Chris Blowey posting 2, Mandy Thomas and Kim Wong one each and a Blowey/Thomas doubles victory squaring the match. There was another draw when Nomads C took on WCC C. Doug Lowe’s hat-trick for County was added to by a single from Derek Harwood and a Harwood/ Tony Ford doubles triumph but the home team came back through twosomes from Christian McMorran and Richard Miles and a Steve Kurle single.

Free Church J whitewashed club-mates K in Division 4, Adam Cofler, Tom Harris and Adam Pulman in imperious form. Eathorpe B had a worthwhile journey to WCC D winning 7-3 with Sophie Cooper, Michael Rossington and Lucinda Stevenson all taking two plus the doubles. Mark Bridgeman 2 and David Dunn replied.

Snitterfield C opened their A division account with a 3-2 victory over Eathorpe C. Henry Lu took two and partnered Peter Vale-Humphries to the doubles with Richard Freeman and Dave Hawker grabbing a point each. Free Church L also had a close encounter with FISCC, finally winning 3-2. Keith Knott and Tony Williams took a point apiece and the doubles but neither could master Mark Jones. Free Church M visited Ashorne B and came away with 4 points. Ben King led the way with two wins and helped Charlie Snelson to the doubles, Snelson winning one. Steve Handsley recorded the villagers’ success.

The first week of the Division B season saw a derby between Eathorpe E and D with D taking all 5 points through father and son, John and Jon Ablett. Topspinners also trounced the luckless Eathorpe E, Richard Lancucki and Bradley Marshall the destroyers. Free Church M edged St. Georges F 3-2 with Jay Virdi winning his two and the doubles with James Robertson. Kevin Rose and Alex Wright notched a win each.

Free Church P made it 9 points out of 10 with a 4-1 success at Eathorpe F in Division C. Lewis Singleton won two and paired with Daniel Shaw, who won once, for the doubles. John Gymer used his experience to claim one.

Eathorpe G had a good 4-1 win over Free Church U in the D division with Alexander Birri unbeaten and Leonardo Varga-Elmiyeh taking one. Jamie Sayer joined Leonardo for the doubles with James Robinson claiming a consolation.
