Leamington’s two under 15 teams won many plaudits on the second day of the Heart of England Cadet League, staged at St. Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick. The A team of Timmy Cooper, Lee Dorning and Sam Weaving defeated Evesham A’s Alex Tomlinson, Holly Bilsborrow and James Morrow, 9-1 with Weaving losing out narrowly to Tomlinson in 5. They then saw off a strong Oxford A team ( Luke Jobling, Kristelle Brook and Kavan Warrender) 8-2 with Cooper and Dorning again notching trebles and Weaving chipping in with a fine win over Warrender and a doubles victory with Dorning. Finally Walsall’s Ashley Offley, Archie Taylor and Matt Dunn were disposed of 9-1 with Weaving again unfortunate to succumb to Offley 11-13 in the 4th.

Leamington B had two narrow defeats, starting with 4- 6 to Sutton Coldfield who had drawn with Spa’s A side on day 1. Kit Turner, Tom Harris and James Keay all beat number 3 Assad Abdikani and Harris had an excellent victory over number one Nuradin Abukar. Spa also went down 4-6 to Oxford with Turner taking two, Harris one and a Harris /Turner doubles win. However, the team were delighted to crush Rugby ‘s team of Tom Matthews, Ben James and Jack Evans 10-0.

In Division 1 St. Georges C’s failure to field a full team probably cost them the match against high-flying Colebridge A. Ian Ferguson continued his unbeaten start to the season but doubles from Miles Chan and Steve Silk forced a 6-4 scoreline. Hat-tricks from Nilton Green and Simon Griew ensured an 8-2 success for WCC B at Rugby B. Mark Jackson’s impeccable triple saw St. Georges B triumph 6-4 away to Free Church A. Matthew Man weighed in with two whilst Deepak Chandrababu notched two for the home team on his seasonal debut. County Council A whipped Colebridge B 7-3 in a match where no player remained unbeaten. Clive Irwin, Pat McCabe and Phil Paine all scored twice for Council and Vikas Bakshi, John Chandler and John Taylor once for the Birmingham team.

Newcomer Jack Shardlow inspired St. Georges E to a 6-4 Division 2 win over Eathorpe A. He bagged 2 plus the doubles with Richard Grover who also won once. A Rob Warnes double ensured the victory. Brian Aston was unstoppable against Free Church C taking his 3 plus the doubles. Will Fletcher posted 2 and Kevin Finn 1. Solomon Hayes had an eye-catching brace for Church. Rugby C hammered Nomads A 8-2 with trebles from Paul Lilley and Anshul Satsangi. Niall Herbert won twice.

Teams are jockeying for positions in the 2-a-side League where promotion and relegation will be decided next month. Free Church L look set for the title in Division A and they took maximum points when defeating FC M and FISCC, Keith Knott and Tony Williams in determined mood. Eathorpe C beat Snitterfield C 3-2 with Richard Freeman and Dave Hawker each nailing one victory plus the doubles but Henry Lu’s 100% League campaign keeps Snitterfield 3 points ahead in runners-up spot. Eathorpe D have a commanding lead in Division B and overcame Free Church O and Eathorpe E 5-0, John and Jon Ablett taking maximums. Topspinners came closer, Russell Smith winning two, but he could not prevent a 2-3 loss. Topspinners whitewashed St. Georges F with Smith and Bradley Matthews taking the points. Free Church N are one point clear of Topspinners having played a game more but had the satisfaction of a 3-2 win against them. Jay Virdi was their hero with two singles. They also beat St. Georges 4-1 through a James Robertson double, single from Tom Fletcher and the doubles. Alex Wright rescued a point. Eathorpe E defeated strugglers St. Georges F 4-1 with William Apted and James Keay taking all the singles.

Free Church P head Division C by 9 points and eased past their Q team 3-2 with Daniel Shaw and Lewis Singleton taking one game each and the doubles. Katie Singleton had two excellent wins in reply. P then beat FC S 4-1 with Lewis dropping the only point to sister Jenny. Eathorpe F edged a 3-2 win over FC R thanks to a brace from John Gymer and one from Norbu Sunang-Joret. F also beat FC S by the same score John Gymer adding the doubles to his two wins. Eve Briscoe and Jenny Singleton took Church’s points. Free Church Q are in second place after beating Eathorpe F 4-1. Oscar Dalrymple and Katie Singleton only conceded the doubles. FC R chase in 3rd taking all 5 points from their S side, Sam Bradley and Jill Weaving the successful duo.

Free Church T sit at the top of Division D. They sneaked a 3-2 win over Eathorpe G thanks to Leyna Stanton’s two and one from Alice Todd. Leonardo Varga-Elmiyeh notched one and helped Jamie Sayer to the doubles. Eathorpe in turn triumphed 4-1 over Free Church V and look favourites for second place. Jamie Sayer (2) and Alexander Birri (1) plus the doubles saw them home. Young Harry Hayes recorded his first ever League win as FC W fell to FC U. James Robinson was U’s mainstay helping his team to 3 points.
