Leamington Veterans B recovered from 1-3 down in their Midlands League match against Stafford B to record their 4th win in 4 matches. The turning point was the doubles which Steve Proctor and Murray Stevenson clinched 18-16 in the 5th to close the match score to 2-3. Spa nailed the remaining games to post a 7-3 victory. Malcolm Macfarlane was the star with 3 wins, Stevenson won twice and Proctor once.

Lillington Free Church’s cadet sides had a breathtaking day 3 at the National Cadet League in Wellingborough on Sunday. With Day 3 results being added to day 4 next month the A team of Timmy Cooper, Lee Dorning and Sam Weaving hold an 8 point advantage in Division 1 after trouncing Westfield A (Wellingborough), Bedford A and Bedford B 6-0, Milton Keynes 5-1 and Draycott (Long Eaton) 4-2. The B team of Kit Turner, Adam Cofler and Adam Pulman have a 7 point lead in Division 2 beating Westfield B 5-1 and taking maximum points from Westfield C, Clifford Chandlers A (Grantham), Dacorum (Hemel Hempstead) and Bedford C.

Not to be outdone the C team of Tom Harris, Josh Wyatt-Smith and Tom Fletcher head Division 3 with a 7 point cushion. They beat their D team and Clifford Chandlers C 6-0, Sycamore A (Nottingham) 5-1, Clifford Chandlers B 4-2 and drew with Sycamore B 3-3.

The D team of Olivia Fletcher, Lewis Singleton, Eve Briscoe and Jenny Singleton also posted two wins against Sycamore A and Clifford Chandlers C and drew with Sycamore B.

Cooper, Turner, Cofler and Harris all enjoyed 100% records and Dorning, Pulman and Livvy Fletcher tasted defeat only once.

Hampton Lucy resident Sam Weaving, who attends Sibford school in Banbury, reached the final of a strong Oxfordshire Schools Under 16 boys competition, enjoying an excellent semi-final victory over Danny Dockree before losing out to Niall Harris.

Colebridge A cemented their second position in Division 1, overcoming St. Georges A 8-2. Ian Ferguson’s treble, allied to braces from Kate Hughes and Edward Lynn saw them home with Matt Jordan and Earl Sweeney getting good wins for the visitors. County Council B maintained their top half showing when beating Potters Green 6-4. Simon Griew’s maximum made the difference with Martin Hunter(2) and Nilton Green (1) providing support. Aaron Riley had an eye-catching double in reply.

Other result: Potters Green 3 (Riley 2, Ryan Stockham 1) Colebridge A 7 (Michael Browne 2, Kate Hughes 1, +D + 3 conceded).

Top contest in Division 2 was the clash between 3rd placed Rugby C and Free Church D, in 4th spot. Timmy Cooper’s triple set Church up for the 6-4 win and Lee Dorning posted two good victories. Cooper and Roald Myers then grabbed the vital doubles 3-2. Anshul Satsangi was Rugby’s chief contributor with 2. Enigmas are roaring away at the top and crushed St Georges E 10-0, Gary Jackson, Steve Proctor and Dong Wei taking the points.

Flavels ride high in Division 3 and dropped only one point against bottom side Free Church F. Steve Lyons and Roger Potts were undefeated and Mick Bennett won twice, as well as taking the doubles with Lyons. Rugby D had a welcome 7-3 success on their visit to Nomads B with Danny Orr winning his 3. Dave Cox (2) and Jo Outhwaite (1) lent support with Orr and Outhwaite winning the doubles. Whitnash B’s Len Coonan was in unstoppable form on his visit to Free Church H winning 3 and the doubles, in 5, with Greg Swan to post a 6-4 victory. Swan and Wilf Chan each won once with Harry Purewal and Kit Turner notching two wins apiece to take the match to the wire.

Free Church I moved further away from the sides chasing them for promotion when edging Eathorpe B 6-4. Ben Haigh’s treble was instrumental to Church’s success with Joe Hunt and Josh Wyatt-Smith both adding a win. Haigh then comfortably steered Wyatt-smith to a straight doubles win. Paul Deavall and Michael Rossington replied with two wins each. The other top two team, Free Church J, crushed WCC D 10-0, Adam Cofler, Tom Harris and Adam Pulman showing little mercy.

Topspinners opened their Division A account with a 4-1 victory at Eathorpe D. Richard Lancucki won two and partnered Russell Smith, who won once, to the doubles. Jon Ablett avoided the whitewash.

Free Church N romped to a 5-0 win over Ashorne B, James Robertson and Jay Virdi winning the singles and Tom Fletcher joining Virdi for the doubles.

St Georges F are enjoying life in Division C and overcame Free Church Q 5-0 with Kevin Rose and Alex Wright the points scorers. Free Church O defeated stable mates Church T 3-2 with the Knott brothers, Ashley and Jeremy, winning a singles apiece and combining for the doubles. Alice Todd with two wins denied them a bigger victory. The determined Todd won 6 out of her 7 games by two points.
