Lillington Tournament 22nd Feb Report

Graded Tournament, 22nd February

St Nicholas Leisure Centre, Warwick, attracted 65 entries for the Lillington Free Church Graded tournament on Saturday. The star was undoubtedly St Georges’ Martyn Todd who romped to victory in both the feature events, securing the Senior title over Church’s Deepak Chandrababu and the Grade A event against fellow Georges’ man Luke Hobbins.

There was a big entry for the combined Junior and Under 15 event and Free Church’s Adam Cofler won a tense Final  in 5 against club-mate Tom Harris after trailing 0-2. Blaenavon’s Ben Pearce claimed the Under 13 Final in 5 against Church’s Oscar Dalrymple.

The Grade B event went to an in-form Trevor Bradley of Flavels in a round robin event over Macclesfield’s Steve Swallow, who used to play for Kenilworth St Nicholas as a junior. Cofler was 3rd and Chris Dyson of Evesham 4th. Grade C went to Olivia Fletcher, the FC youngster continuing her recent impressive form to see off club-mate Adam Pulman.. Eathorpe’s Will Apted took the Improvers, defeating Church’s James Robertson and Callum Meredith of Blaenavon overcame Tamworth’s Ellis Kesterton in the Beginners.

Consolation events:

Senior: Steve Swallow, Macclesfield beat Harry Purewal (FC)

Junior/U15: Matthew Pearce, Blaenavon beat Harvey Fowler, Daventry

Under 13: Oscar Shakespeare, Draycott beat Ricardo Bolanos (FC)

Grade A: Roald Myers (FC) beat Sam Weaving (FC)

Grade C: Patrick Swallow, Macclesfield beat Steven Adams, Birmingham

Improvers: Callum Pickering, Eathorpe beat Dan Shaw (FC)

Beginners: Ben Allen, Blaenavon beat Ciara Hancox (FC)
