ELBOW TANKARD WEEK 4

World Cup football caused a little trouble with matches last week, although four were played in the end with Jurassic Park overcoming Fleckney Flyers 16-4 to maintain an interest in topping Group A having won three from four so far and others in the group behind in matches.

The Flyers are hamstrung to some extent as they are having to field “guest” players who have a handicap number which is unofficial as they have not played in the league.  But at least they are fielding three players.  In this Eddie Kwok was unbeaten for Park, winning his counting four, while Nick Wyche did well for Flyers in notching three from six.

In Group B KP Young Ones maintained their unbeaten tag by defeating a talented Abbots Renegades 15-5 when 12-year-old Oscar Bentley emerged undefeated with all six, Vishaal Sharda five and Brajesh Patel two.  All three Renegades, Bhulesh Rathod, Fahed Sacoor and Ketan Patel, won one with the doubles shared.

In Group C there was a nail biter going to the last game when Park and Ride just got over the line 11-9 against Electric City.  For Electric Andy Searle played for the first time and captured five but his loss to Shirley Pickering in the end proved crucial, the latter picking up three from four, the same from the doubles.

Meanwhile Casualties were beating Villagers 16-4 thanks to Ajay Lad undefeated as the doubles exponent with four from four in both singles and doubles.  Support came from Ian Wetherly with five and Lucki Obi three.  Gemma Hargrave and Matt Woolerton each won two for the Villagers.
