The CHRISTMAS HANDICAP SINGLES 2017 was played last Tuesday.

An enthusiastic cross section of Lincoln Table Tennis players took part in what was for all of them a very busy testing event with handicaps being reassessed every time they played.

Matches commenced with Sally Riggall up against Bill (the builder ) Holmes, with Sally squeezing home by 18-21,21-15,21-13.

Semiu & Lex then had a battle royal! Lex emerging the victor from the debris of Semiu’s smashes by 21-11,20-22,21-19.

Ian Minoghue had an outstanding win over the magic play of Derek Wood by 21-19,21-16

Mick Johnson played in a family battle with Nick Robinson , with Nick the victor by 21-14, 19-21,21-12 .

Adrian Haigh tested his defence against Duddy Dudman with a win by 21-17, 22-24,21-13.

Anthony Tindall defied the wiles of Betty Brown by 21-17, 22-20.

One of the star players on the night returning to table tennis after some 35 years away was a very determined and skilled Jacqueline Meadows. She destroyed Anthony by 21-16, 21-9.

Adrian just squeaked past Nick by a narrow 21-19,21-19.

Lex swept past Ian by 21-15,21-7.

Jack Bradley succumbed to Sally by 18-21,21-14,21-13.

Semi finals saw the closest match of the tournament with Adrian edging past Jacqueline by 26-24,21-19 to reach his first ever final.

Lex was too good for sally in a 13-21,21-18,21-18 to reach his first ever final.


Adrian used all his magnificent defensive skills to cruise home as Champion by 21-15,21-17.
