Not our usual 6-4 either way with Nat West after the
inclusion of our new player, Andy Nash, who came away with an excellent treble
on his debut though he did drop three legs and had to cope with Mike Hughes
coming back from 2-0 down to 2-2 before gathering his thoughts and winning the
fifth. He also dropped a leg to Adam.
Pete and I managed two each in support though each only
managing a leg against Adam. I had my usual epic battle with Mike Hughes before
somehow winning out in the fifth. Pete by contrast beat Mike three straight but
dropped a leg to Gareth,
For Nat West Adam had a good night winning two, one of which
was his first ever win over Pete. Mike had the longest evening of everyone
losing in five to both myself and Andy but lost three straight to Pete.
Gareth had a tough night and never looked comfortable in any
of his three games though he did win a leg against Pete and then lost the
fourth at deuce and also lost a deuce leg to Andy.
The doubles saw a new combination take to the table as Andy
teamed up with me to play against Adam and Gareth and something seemed to click
as we won in three only conceding 14 points.
So an 8-2 win for Castaways leaves us 22 points behind
Stepney Green A with two games in hand and 29 points behind Treasury A with
three games in hand so amazingly after the season we’ve had there is still a
chance to get up another place or two.
