Usually this match results in a 6-4 either way but tonight
Castaways got the upper hand after a reverse start and finished with an 8-2
Pete and our new player Andy managed maximums though Andy
needed five legs twice to get there whilst Pete managed his wins with two fours
and a three straight.
I struggled in my opening game losing to Winston in a very
close four legger but then recovered to win my other two without any big
Winston played his usual solid game beating me and then
managing to take a leg off Pete before taking Andy to five. One was scant
reward for his efforts.
Robin had the most legs on the evening, thirteen, but
finished winless which was harsh but ultimately all the Castaways players
worked out his funny bat.
Trevor had the toughest of evenings ending with the wooden
spoon but not for effort.
The doubles proved just one thing, the best singles players
do not always produce the best doubles partnerships as Winston and Robin
somewhat easily disposed of Pete and Andy in four after dropping the first to
So an 8-2 win which keeps Castaways on track for a very
unlikely runners-up position, next week’s double header catch up games will go
some way to seeing that is a reality or a pipedream.
