Pitchford leads way into ETTU Cup final

Liam Pitchford led from the front as his club Hennebont reached the final of the ETTU Cup with a 3-0 victory over Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Leading 3-2 from the first leg, in which Pitchford won both matches, it was easier on home soil for French side Hennebont.

Pitchford started the ball rolling with a 3-1 (11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 11-6) victory over Joao Monteiro, and Sheng Peng Fan doubled the advantage in five sets against Quadri Aruna. It was left to Cedric Nuytinck to seal the final spot by beating Diogo Carvalho in three straight.

Hennebont’s final opponents will be German club FC Saarbrücken Tischtennis, who overcame K.S. Dekorglass Dzialdowo of Poland in their semi-final.
