Division 1 Report

Ledbury Rovers have begun the new season in excellent form with successive wins against last years league winners CSSC Ramblers 6-4 despite an excellent performance by Graham Thompson who won all his 3 games and a 7-3 victory against Ledbury Lions with 2 wins for both Ady Marshall and James Dance who also combined to win the doubles. There was also a single win for Bob Marshall and 1 each for Richard Smith, Jim Ahern and Steve Meredith. Lions defeated Express 6-4 thanks to a maximum from Steve Meredith who also combined with his father Neville to win the doubles. Dale Dickenson won 2 for Express with single wins for Richard McKenna and Ray Page. Jim Ahern won the other 2 games for Lions. Express drew 5-5 with Crackpots E , Pete Griffiths was the star performer winning all his 3 singles games but Colin Dolding and Dave Steen replied with 2 wins each and victory in the doubles. Dale and Ray won the other games for Express. Old Boys defeated Crackpots E 8-2 thanks to maximums for Dave White and Graham Collier. There were also single victories for Ian Bell , Colin and Dave Steen.   Pumas began their season with a 6-4 victory against Old Boys despite another Dave White maximum largely thanks to 2 victories each for Geoff Woodward and Dave Knowles, Jon Dyke won a singles and combined with Geoff to take the crucial doubles against Dave and Graham. Pumas then lost 7-3 to Ledbury Collection foe whom Trevor Davies secured 3 victories with Nigel Foreshew and Ann Barnes contributing 2 wins each.


Division 2 Report

Early pacesetters Manor Park Rangers opened with 2 victories against Nomads 10-0 with maximums for Nick Haggar, Richard Cullis and Laurence Dodd and 8-2 against Poolbrook Dynamos where 5 of the 10 matches were decided in the fifth set. A maximum for Matt Lang proved decisive with 2 wins each for Laurence and Richard, Stan Mason played really well to win 2 games for Poolbrook. Travellers have also started strongly with a 10-0 victory against Upton Floods with maximums for Toby Wren, Ken Hipwell and Martin Snee and a 6-4 win against Wanderers despite an excellent maximum from Charlie Burford with Dave Bradley also contributing a victory against Ken. Scuttling Gang opened their season with an 8-2 victory against YMCA Vulcans thanks to maximums from Richard McKenna and Chris Field, Ray Davies also contributed a victory as did Richard Bennett and  John Cawthra for Vulcans. Vulcans also lost narrowly 4-6 to Poolbrook Wanderers for whom Rob Weston, Matt White and Charlie Burford contributed 2 victories each, Richard Bennett replied with 2 wins for Vulcans and victory in the doubles with Simon Harrison who also contributed a singles win. X Police opened the season with an 8-2 defeat against Upton Floods for whom Pete Nash was unbeaten and Roger Davies and Peter Quy won 2 games each, James Mulka replied with 2 wins for X Police. However, X Police followed this up with an honourable 5-5 draw with CSSC Nomads for whom Dave Hayes was unbeaten including the doubles with Ed Palmer. Ed also contributed a singles victory, father and son Steve and James Mulka claimed 2 wins each for X Police with Alan Holmes also being successful against Graham Pryce Jones.


Division 3 Report

Devils opened their season with an excellent 7-3 victory against Poolbrook Panthers thanks to 3 victories from Paul Lythgoe who also teamed up with Liz Hallam to take the doubles, Liz also contributed a singles victory with Dennis Chetwood contributing 2 wins. Collette James won 2 games for Panthers with Ewan Gear also claiming a victory. Crackpots B won 8-2 against MP Crackpots thanks to unbeaten performances from veteran Ted Cates and Matt White who also combined to win the doubles against Stephen Lindner and Ed Palmer. Stann Ginn also contributed a victory against Will Jones. Stephen and Ed won single games for MP Crackpots. Crackpots D drew 5-5 with Tornados for whom Dominic Weston won 2 games and combine with Ethan Webb to take an excellent 5 set doubles against the experienced pair of James Palmer and Bob Rhodes. James and Bob won 2 singles each and there were single wins for Tim Dolding against Ethan and Andy Banks against Tim. In the final game Crackpots B defeated Crackpots D 6-4 thanks to a heroic unbeaten performance from Ted Cates including the doubles with Alan Forsdyke. Alan and Stan Ginn also contributed a victory each with James Palmer and Bob Rhodes replying with 2 victories each for D.
