Division 1 Report.
The first week of matches In Paperstation Malvern League Division 1 saw YMCA Pterodactyls establish their title credentials with a 9-1 victory against Manor Park Pumas with maximums from new Bulgarian recruit Svilen Andreev , reigning Malvern Singles champion Wayne Chopping and Dave White. Pumas sole success was an excellent 5 set doubles victory for Jon Dyke and Geoff Woodward against Wayne and Dave. Meanwhile CSSC Ramblers began with a 7-3 victory against Ledbury Rovers with 3 wins for Chris Hewitt, 2 for Graham Thompson and 1 from Alan Salisbury. Ady Marshall replied with 2 wins for Rovers and Jack Castle 1. Ledbury Collection defeated newly promoted Manor Park Travellers 6-4 thanks to 2 wins each for Nigel Foreshew and Patyrk Kovacz supported by Ann Barnes with 1. Travellers replied with 3 wins for Craig Preece and 1 for Toby
Wren. Nigel and Patryk defeated Toby and Craig in straight sets in the decisive double. Manor Park Express defeated Ledbury Lions 7-3 thanks to 3 wins from Pete Griffiths, 2 from Dale Dickinson and 1 from Ray Page. Dale and Pete also combined to take the doubles against Richard Smith and Steve Meredith, Richard won 2 and Steve 1 in reply for Lions.
Division 2 Report.
Relegated Crackpots E defeated Nomads 8-2 thanks to a superb performance by Matt Hodges with 3 victories supported by newcomer Anthea Knight and Dave Steen with 2 wins each. Dave Hayes replied with 2 wins for Nomads. Scuttling Gang began their season with a 7-3 win against Manor Park Wanderers thanks to a maximum from Richard McKenna and 2 wins each for Ray Davies and Richard Cullis. Stan Mason and Charlie Burford replied with wins for Wanderers. Dynamos defeated Upton 9-1 with maximums from Geoff Burford And John Phillips supported by Tom James with 2 , Mark Davies replied with a single win for Upton. YMCA Vulcans defeated newly promoted Tornados 7-3 with Richard Bennett in excellent form taking his 3 singles supported by Simon Harrison and John Cawthra with 2 and 1 win respectively. Ethan Webb, Ben Meredith and Dominic Weston replied with single victories for Tornados.
Division 3 Report.
Promotion favourites X Police defeated Abbeydowne 7-3 thanks to maximums from James and Steve Mulka who also combined to win the doubles. Niels Errikson. Len Hitchman and Chris Burrows replied with sole wins for Abbeydowne. Manor Park Devils who narrowly missed out on promotion last season began their season well with a 7-3 victory against Manor Park Crackpots despite a maximum from Stephen Lindner, 2 wins each for Liz Hallam, Ralph Cook and Denis Chetwood secured the win for Devils. Newly formed Bromyard Hopefuls won their opening match 7-3 against Poolbrook Rangers thanks to maximums from Brian Kitchener and Edward Tinton supported by David Gwilt with 1 win. Nick Haggar and Robert Weston replied with single wins for Rangers and success in the doubles for Nick and Russell Burford against David Gwilt and Tony Barbe. Poolbrook Panthers overcame Poolbrook Juniors 7-3 thanks to a maximum by Ewan Gear supported by Judith Tyson with 2 wins and Dina Murdle with 1 , James Glazzard on his debut replied with 2 for Juniors supported by Zoe Snee with 1.
