MATCH WEEK 17 Results

Division 1

1.– Ravenshead Rascals bt Zygabyte A  -  10-0   -  P.O.M – Junior Stoddart

2.– Ravenshead Riots bt Jacksdale B– 6-4 - P.O.M – John Watson

3.– Zygabyte B bt  Jacksdale C    -  9-1  -  P.O.M – Dave Hodgkin

A Fantastic result by Ravenshead Rascals beating their title rivals Zygabyte A 10-0 to put 1 hand on the Division 1 title.

Ravenshead Rascals are now 18 points clear with 4 games to play, and it looks like for only the 2nd time in the 11 years will the Division 1 title will not go to Zygabyte A.

The Team of Adam Feargrieve, Junior Stoddart & Gareth Godber took the clean sweep of all matches on the night.

Adam & Junior are also both unbeaten in the league this year.

Ravenshead Riots only managing to get 2 players to the game and therefore starting proceedings 3-0 down, managed to put in a solid performance with John Watson ( Player of the Match ) winning all his 3 games and Andy Thorley wins 2 of his 3 games. They then combined in the doubles to win this also and win the tie 6-4.

Zygabyte B moved to 4th in the League with a 9-1 over Jacksdale C, the same score line when they met earlier in the season. David Hodgkin won Player of the Match winning all his games, and backed up by Kev Cope winning 3 also and Amber Zygadlo winning 2.

3.– Ravenshead Riots beat Jacksdale C  -  8-1  -  P.O.M – John Watson

John Watson guided the Ravenshead Riots to 3rd in the table of the Division 1 cup with a Player of the Match performance in Riots 8-1 Victory over Jacksdale C.

Glen Holmes & John Fordham managed to stave off the Whitewash as they won the final match of the night against Matt Fowkes & Simon Chatterton for a consolation point.

Division 2

1. Boothys bt NewCross Snipers    – 6-4  -  P.O.M – Bob Angus

2. Zygabyte Old Bats bt Ravenshead Rebels -  10-0  -  P.O.M – Ralph Rodda

3. Ravenshead Angels vs Hucknall 50+  -  5-5 - P.O.M – Lisa Lewis

4.Jacksdale D vs Ravenshead Rhinos – 1-9  -  P.O.M – Steve Scott

5. Ravenshead Rhinos vs NewCross Snipers – 5-5  -  P.O.M – Steve Scott

6. Zygabyte Old Bats bt Boothys – 8-2  -  P.O.M – Matt Williams

A maximum from Bob Angus helped Boothy's maintain their title challenge in a thrilling 6-4 away win over New Cross Snipers. Erlands Skels for the home team and Stuart Chadwick for Boothy's both scored 2 wins before Stuart teamed up with Rod Sampson to win a fantastic doubles match 15-13 in the 5th game.

Zygabyte Old Bats put their claim on a chance of the division 2 title with a 10-0 victory over Ravenshead Rebels. The Team of Ralph Rodda ( Player of the match ), Matt Williams and Glynn Payne all won their singles and Ralph & Matt Paired up in the doubles to take the match 10-0.

Phil Stringer for the Rebels was unlucky taking all his games to the deciding 5th, but just couldn't finish the games off.

Steve Scott great season continued with his 9th POM award out of 11 games, and along with Graham Smith they won all their games Friday night for Ravenshead Rhinos along with teaming up for a win in the doubles to win the match 9-1 against Jacksdale D.

Lisa Lewis once again won all her games and won Player of the Match, not even losing an end winning all her game 3-0, however it was not enough to win the match in the closely fought game and Dick Johnson & Roy Drew won the doubles to draw the match 5-5 on the night. All  6 players won at least 1 point on the night which is quite a rare occurrence.

The Rhinos and the Snipers played out their 3rd 5-5 draw in their last 4 meetings. Steve Scott once again won all his games without dropping an end and winning his 10th POM.

It was a close fought game with no side ever being more than 1 point in the lead, the snipers were 5-4 up going into the Doubles with Tony Swain & Ben Swain who both won 2 singles on the night were up against Graham Smith & Steve Scott. Every game was close and could’ve gone either way but the Rhinos managed to take the doubles ( 14-12,11-9,6-11,11-7 ) to draw the match on the night.

Old Bats blew open the title race with an emphatic 8-2 victory over Division 2 leaders Boothys. Matt Williams won all his matches and was backed up by Ralph Rodda & Rob Vaughan who both won 2 of their games. Matt & Rob combined to win the doubles also and take the match 8-2.

The Division 2 title is the closest for years with Boothys top P14 – 88 pts, Old Bats 2nd P13 – 85 pts and Rhinos 3rd P13 – 84pts. With Old Bats & Rhinos also still to play each other in the last game of the season this will go right down to the wire.
