MATCH WEEK 3 Results


Division 1


1.       Zygabyte A beat Snipers A – 10-0 – P.O.M – Bob Hume

2.       Jacksdale B drew Terminetters – 5-5 - P.O.M – Glen Cutmore

3.       Jacskdale A vs Royals – Match Postponed


Current Champions Zygabyte A finally got their season underway with a 10-0 win over Snipers of St Josephs A.

With new Player Martin Dean and Zygabyte Regulars Capt. Joe Zygadlo and Bob Hume, Bob Hume was POM as he was the only one not to drop a game winning all his games 3-0.

Tony Swain was the only one to show real resistance taking a game of both Joe & Martin, and narrowly losing the 4th 11-13 & 12-14 respectively. In the Doubles Joe & Martin beat Tony & Jim Westwood 3-1.

Ravenshead Terminetters and Jacskdale B played out a close fought 5-5 draw.

Glen Cutmore for the Terminetters made it 2 games and 2 POM performances and 100% record, a real good start in his first season in the Mansfield League.

Richard Robinson who was playing up from Division 2 and also on the same night playing for his Div. 2 team ( therefore playing 7 games in total on the night ), won the other 2 points for the Terminetters.

Russ Stevens (2), Glen Holmes (1) & John Fordham (1) as well as Glen & Russ combining in the Doubles got the 5 points for Jacksdale B.

There was 4 games that went the distance 2 involving Glen Cutmore beating Russ Stevens 11-6 in the 5th and John Fordham 11-8 in the 5th.

Adrian Smith for the Terminetters was on the opposite end of the other 2 losing to John Fordham 11-7 in the 5th and Glen Holmes 11-8 in the 5th.

Jacksdale B move to 2nd, but mainly due to the fact they have played more games than the other teams and the time of writing.

Division 2

1.       Rhinos beat Rebels – 7-3 – P.O.M – Steve Scott

2.       Marksmen A beat Jacksdale C – 8-2 -  P.O.M – Mark Sansom

3.       Snipers B beat Hucknall 50+– 6-4 – P.O.M – Rob Vaughan

4.       Spin Doctors beat Ravensdale – 7-3  – P.O.M – Jack Kirkland


Rhino's Capt. had an interesting night not only playing for the Rhinos but also on the same night playing up for Ravenshead Terminetters in Div. 1 so playing 7 matches in total in 1 night. Richard

started poorly losing to Mike Cohen in Straight sets, but has he warmed up through the night he then beat Fionna Ridgewell 3-1 and Laurence Taylor 3-0 and then won the doubles with Graham Smith also 3-0.

Leading the team to a 7-3 victory and this puts them top of the league with 19 points after 3 games.

Steve Scott was POM on the night winning all his games and Graham Smith also winning 1.

For the Rebels Mike Cohen won 2 and Fionna 1.

After starting the season with 2 draws Ravenshead Marksmen A finally got a win, Capt. Mark Sansom was back after a Chest Infection, although still not fully fit he helped guide his team to an 8-2 victory of Jacksdale C. He also won POM winning all his games.

Mick Matushenko also won all his games on the night and Tony Draycott making his Mansfield League Debut and will be happy to at least get 1 win under the belt which he got in his 3rd match with a 3-2 victory over Jonathan Heath, coming back from 2-1 down winning the next 2 both 11-9.

Mark & Mick also won the doubles gaining the 8th Point.

For Jacksdale C Angela Brettell & John Smith both won 1 game to give Jacksdale 2 points on the night.

Rob Vaughan remained unbeaten and lead Snipers B to a 6-4 victory over Hucknall 50+, not only unbeaten, not only another POM performance but he was very excited about the free biscuits at half time that Hucknall supplied.

This result puts Snipers B, Joint second with 2 wins and a draw and just 1 point behind the Rhinos.

New signing and player to the League for Snipers B - Steve Elkin, made a good debut with 2 wins and a narrow 3-2 loss against Dick Johnson.

Closest game of the night was Dean Marsh who took a 2-1 lead against Andy King, but Andy fought back winning 11-7 and then 11-9 in a tight final end.

Rob & Steve combined in the doubles to take the match 6-4.

Jack Kirkland maintained his personal 100% record with another maximum against Ravensdale to give his Zygabyte Spin Doctors team a 7-3 win.

Jack's father Andy won 2 of his matches with Derek Clarke also winning 2 for the home team. A doubles win for Zygabyte gave them their first victory of the season and brought Ravensdale down to earth after their win last week.
