MATCH WEEK 19 Results

Division 1

1.       Zygabyte A beat Rangers -  8-2 – P.O.M - Dean Brookes

2.       Royals  beat  Snipers A – 10-0 - P.O.M – Ray Rider

3.       Zygabyte B beat Terminetters  – 6-4 – P.O.M – Kev Cope

4.       Jacksdale B beat Jacksdale A - 9-1 - P.O.M - Glen Holmes

Zygabyte A move to just 12 points behind the leaders with 2 games in hand with an 8-2 victory over Ravenshead Rangers. POM and still 100% win record Dean Brookes led his team to victory.

Main resistance from the Rangers came from Kerry Harvey who bear Dave Kelly & Bob Hume, but couldn't make it an hat-trick when she played Dean in the final singles.

Royals continued their Dominance with a 10-0 victory over Snipers of St Josephs A, with only 4 ends lost in the whole match, the experienced Royals team was to much for the Snipers.

Royals are now 12 points clear but the team in 2nd have 2 games in hand, making the clash at the beginning of February between the 2 as probably crucial on the championship this year.

Ray Riders was POM only losing 1 end.

Gareth Godber keeps his Div 1 100% win record for this season.

Jacksdale B beat team mates Jacksdale A quite comfortably 9-1, it was not Jacksdale A strongest side and also played up Hari Rampall from Division 2.

POM & Captain Glen Holmes started proceedings beating opposition Captain Paul Linfield 3-0, but when Russ Webster in the 2nd Match came back from 2-0 to beat John Fordham the game was on.

But from here Jacksdale B when on the march winning the rest of the games, Mick Pinegar made it hard work being taken to 5 by Hari & Russ but managed to overcome them both.

This puts Jacksdale B up to 3rd just 1 point above Jacksdale A but A have 2 games in hand. But the 2 games in hand are against the top 2 sides so quite close.

Zygabyte B boasted a new player for 2017 Martin West and he started with 2 wins out of 3 in a 6-4 victory for the team against bottom club Terminetters. Amber Zygadlo & Kev Cope both also won 2.

For the Terminetters Lisa Lewis won 2 , Glen Cutmore 1 & Glen & Lisa won the doubles.

This result is the same as when the met earlier in the season.

2.       Snipers B beat Marksmen A– 9-1 - P.O.M – Rob Vaughan

3.       Rhinos beat Hucknall 50+ – 7-3  – P.O.M – Steve Scott

4.       Ravensdale beat Jacksdale C – 6-4  – P.O.M – Stuart Chadwick

Rebels provisionally move themselves off bottom with a 7-3 victory over the Spin Doctors. Mike Cohen got his 3rd POM award being the only player to win all his games on the night. Mike was backed up by 2 wins from Alan Kenyon & 1 from Val Tully.

Mike & Alan also won a tight doubles winning 11-5 in the 5th.

Glynn Payne for the Spin Doctors won 2 and Andy Hughes 1 for the Spin Doctors 3 points.

5 of the 10 games went the distance showing how close this was, with Rebels wining 3 of the 5 matches.

Comeback of the night was Andy Hughes who came back from 2-0 against Val Tully to win only his second match of the season.

Marksmen A beat Rhinos last week and was going for the double over the leaders to really put themselves in contention, what was going to be a close match and scores wise it was clos with 4 games going the distance and 4 won in 4.

The Score perhaps didn't reflect as the Snipers came away 9-1 victors, in which moves them well clear at the top of the Division 2 table and are now the team to catch.

Rob Vaughan POM again played another important role to bring home the result, James Weston for the Snipers also won all his 3 but had to win 2 of them in 5 , and with Ralph Rodda losing the only 1 on the night to Mark Sansom 12-10 in the 5th.

Ralph was also involved in a great comeback against Chris Tilstone after dropping the first 2, he came back to win the Game winning the next 3 ( 11-9, 11-5, 11-5)

What a battle ! 6 games out of the 10 went the distance to the deciding 5th game, and 5 of the 6 were all won by the Rhinos which is the reason why the Rhinos won 7-3 against Hucknall 50+ in a great match. Hucknall Captain Dick Johnson like to get his monies worth being involved in 3 of them.

Of the 43 games 11 ( 26% ) went to 10-10, a further 6 were won 11-9.

The 3 points from Hucknall came from Andy King beating Graham Smith & Richard Robinson and John Banner beat Graham Smith, all the other games went the way of the Rhino’s but only just.

Steve Scott was POM being the only player to win all his games on the night.

Ravensdale secured a 6-4 victory over improving Ravenshead Marksmen B. Player of the Match Stuart Chadwick scored a maximum for the home team with his colleagues Bob Angus and Rod Sampson winning 3 matches between them. Steve Oravecz won 2 matches for the Marksmen before teaming up with Richard Cain for a victory in the doubles.
