Brian Roddis

It’s with deepest regret we have to announce the passing of our chairman Brian Roddis, Brian has been a loyal member of the league since the 1950’s and will be deeply missed.

The committee send their condolences to his wife and family at this sad time.

Brian Roddis who first played in the league in 1956 with pilsley meths in division 5, they had a successful season winning the title and brian topping the averages after that he played for several clubs and also played in the chesterfield and alfreton leagues.

He first joined the management committee in mansfield in the early 1960’s and has been a member ever since entailing the positions of match secretary, treasurer, vice chairman and now for a number of years chairman.

The highlight of his tenure was when the mansfield league hosted the european league match between England and Yugoslavia at the old mansfield leisure centre.

His funeral is on Thursday 10th January, if you would like further details re his funeral please contact Ben Swain.
