Jarvis, Ho and Walker in medal frame

Tom Jarvis and Tin-Tin Ho are into the semi-finals of their respectove singles events at the Commonwealth Championships, while Jarvis & Walker are into the last four of the doubles.

Jarvis beat India’s Sanil Shetty 4-1 in his quarter-final. Seemingly on a mission to break hearts in the host nation, Jarvis has overcome Indian opposition in every round so far but faces a big hurdle in the shape of world No 24 Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in the semi-finals tomorrow.

Ho has also overcome Indian opposition in the quarters -Archana Kamath – and will have to do so again in the semis when she faces Ayhika Mukherjee, ranked 26 places below her at 134.

In the men’s doubles,Walker & Jarvis overcame Malay pair Leon Chee Feng & Muhamed Rizal 3-0 (11-6, 11-2, 11-9) to set up another England-India showdown against Amalraj Anthony & Manav Thakkar in the semi-finals.

David McBeath and his partner from Singapore, Lucas Tan, were knocked out in the quarters by top seeds Sharath Achanta & Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.

There was also no joy in the Mixed Doubles for Walker & Ho, who went out to Harmeet Desai & Ayhika Mukherjee in the quarter-finals.
