Kent Senior Team Tournament

Kent run two team tournaments every season, one for teams consisting of top local league division players and one for other players.

The Senior Team Tournament takes place at the Howard on Sunday 6/2 starting at 09:00 sharp. A free lunch is included and the tournament normally runs til later afternoon.

The format is three or four in a squad with three playing in each match. Matches consist of four singles and one doubles with two player playing a singles and a doubles and one player playing three singles – decided by drawing lots for each match before it.

The teams are split into two groups, all play all and then there is a play-off to determine the final positions so say ten teams then 5th plays 5th for 9th and 10th; 4th plays 4th for 7th and 8th; 3rd plays 3rd for 5th and 6th; then 1st from group A plays 2nd from group B and vica versa for the semi finals with the winners playing in the final.

Normally only one team is allowed from each Kent League but due to a few leagues not being able to enter teams Medway have been offered a second place (and maybe even a third). The standard is comparable with our Premier standard and any players who play in the Premier would enjoy it and be competitive. All players would be very welcome.

Our first team consists of Richard Carden, Andy Norwood, and Martin Hewitt.

Could any players (or teams) interested in forming a second team please contact me ASAP (Monday evening at the latest) as the organiser needs to know by the end of the week how many teams he has to organise the draw.

If anyone has any questions feel free to direct them directly to me.

NB If a player’s parent League is not Medway then they would need permission from their parent league to play for Medway.
