Although the scoreline was 9,1 there was some outstanding matches . Alan Longhurst and Paul Cronin picked up maximums but the former had to dig deep to overcome Nick Boden in five brilliant legs. Nick Boden started really well and produced arguably the shot of the night with a terrific topspin smash to take a 2 legs to one lead, all legs 12,10 before Alan Longhurst managed to fight back brilliantly to win 11,4 in the fifth
Shane Jarrett and David McAulay also produced a fifth set cracker with the former winning 11,7 in the fifth.
Martin West played well in patches suffering three 12,10 leg losses but couldn't get over the line
