With a 10-0 victory over Ormesby K, Nunthorpe B has taken an early lead at the top of Division 2 of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League.

The match was as comfortable as the score line suggests with Barbara Kearney, Trevor Teasdale and David Hildreth all scoring hat tricks.  Only one set needed a fourth game, when Hildreth beat Eve Witterick by 3-1.

Ormesby F has had a good start to the season, winning their first two matches, however, they came unstuck against Beaumont Nomads C losing 7-3.  Chris Gunn for Ormesby F was the star of the match scoring a hat trick, whilst Bruce Lowther, Geoff Howe and Simon Sharples won two each for Nomads.  Nomads are in contention for the top place having won all of their opening fixtures.

The team coming in third place, Nunthorpe C beat Ormesby I by 9-1 in last week’s fixtures.  Glynn Robinson and John Goulding both scored hat tricks, while Mike Newton won two, then losing narrowly to Terry Bache.

Nunthorpe are in third place because they lost one of their opening fixtures.
