The early leaders in the first division of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League, Ormesby C suffered a 7-3 defeat at the hands of Swerve A in last weekend’s fixtures.

Josh Harland and Nuradin Muktar both scored hat tricks for Swerve, whilst the Ormesby players George Hill, Jack Dewar and Kieran Wardell all did well to beat Sam Bailey.  The closest match was Dewar's victory over Bailey at 12-10 in the decider.

Swerve B are second in the table following the 9-1 victory over Ormesby B.   Andy Wilson and Jevon Chan both scored hat tricks, whilst Ormesby’s Karl Shaw scored the only win against Alex Garlick.

Regular championship contenders Beaumont Nomads A won their first match of the season beating Ormesby D by 8-2. Steve Baines and Stephen Cooper both scored hat tricks, whilst Ryan Nassau and David Noutch both beat Craig Dring at 11-8 in the decider.  Despite their slow start to the season, Nomads remain one of the teams in contenders for the title.

In the League table Ormesby C are top with 30 points, with Swerve B in second place with 28 points, both have played 4 matches.  Swerve A are third with 25, Ormesby A and B both have 17 points after having played 3 matches each.
