As the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League heads for the Christmas break, Nunthorpe B emerged as favourites of the Division 2 Championship.
Last week’s fixtures saw Nunthorpe defeat Swerve E by 9-1 with hat tricks by Barbara Kearney and Nick Bashford, both were scored in 3 straight games.
One win for Swerve was recorded by James Morris who beat Trevor Teasdale at 13-11 in the decider.
In second place Ormesby F had a comfortable win against the Club’s own J team which is the Wheeler’s Squad. Mike McMahon, Keith Lewis and John McCullow all scored comfortable hat tricks, although 4 of the 10 sets did require a fourth game.
In contention for honours in third place are Beaumont Nomads C in last week’s fixtures they scored a 10-0 victory against Ormesby L, with hat tracks from Malcolm Noble, Jane Lynas and Simon Sharples.
It was also a comfortable win, with only one set going to four games when Lynas played Stephen Thackeray.
The results means that Nunthorpe B are top of the table having won all of their 5 matches to date with 47 points, Ormesby F are on the same number of points, but have lost and drawn two of their matches, having played 6 in total.
Beaumont Nomads C is very much in the frame having won all of their five matches with just 1 point behind on 46.
