The opening fixtures for the new season was played in the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League last weekend producing some unexpected results.

Last year’s Champions Swerve A were held to a 5-5 to their own C team due partly to a hat trick from Josh Harland.  For the C team Sam Bailey and Martin Rutter both won 2.  Bailey and Rutter both beat Will Dobinson and Kieran Wardell.  Dobinson and Wardell won one game each against Jevon Chan.

Championship contenders Beaumont Nomads Accountancy A were given a tough battle against Ormesby C.  Luke Robinson was in good form with wins against Steve Cooper and Bruce Lowther.  Mark Walpole was the star of the match for Beaumont scoring a hat trick whilst Cooper won 2.  The match was just as close as the score line suggestions with 3 of the sets needing the deciding game, all of which provided wins for Beaumont.

Ormesby D started their season on a positive note by beating Nunthorpe B 7-3, Jack Dewar and Ryan Nassau both scoring hat tricks for the Ormesby team.
