Nunthorpe B increased their lead at the top of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League last week when they defeated Swerve D, the team in fourth place of the table, by 10-0.  Barbara Kearney, Nick Bashford and David Hildreth all scored hat tricks in a match that only required a fourth game on three occasions.

The team in second place, Beaumont Nomads C did not have a fixture in last week’s results.  However, the team in third place, Ormesby F kept their interest in the championship race with a 9-1 victory over fifth place Nunthorpe C.  Tom Hand and Chris Gunn both scored hat tricks whilst John McCullow won two, losing the only set of the match to Mike Newton at 17-15 in the decider.  Overall the match was closer than the score line suggests with Mike Newton taking Tom Hand to five and Glynn Robinson going the distance with John McCullow.

These results give Nunthorpe a 12 point lead at the top of the Division although they have played one more match than Nomads C.  Ormesby F are also in contention with 16 points behind the leaders on level games.
