The battle for honours at the top of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League continued with last week’s fixtures when the current leaders Beaumont Accountancy Nomads A beat another one of the top six teams Swerve B by 7-3. Anthony Phoenix was the star of the match scoring a hat trick for Beaumont whilst Steve Cooper did well to win two.
Stephen Brunskill was the most successful Swerve player, with two wins whilst Calum McRae did well to beat Mark Walpole at 12-10 in the fifth.
Swerve A kept their interest in the Championship race with a 8-2 victory over Ormesby B with a hat trick from Josh Harland and two each from Will Dobinson and Kieran Wardell. Dave Ashwell won Ormesby’s two sets.
Beaumont A lead the table with 91 points from 12 matches whilst Swerve A have the same number of points but have played one more match. Ormesby A remain in strong contention with 88 points with a match in hand over Beaumont.
