With hat tricks from Noel Clerkin, Albert Wilson and Ray Darcy winning two, East Cleveland were worthy winners. The main opposition came from Jane Lynas who beat Darcy 11-5 in the decider. Lynas also played well against Wilson where she led by two games to nil, but then lost next three including the decider at 13-11.
East Cleveland’s main opponents Ormesby F, did well in their fixture with an 8-2 victory over Nunthorpe C. John McCullow was the star for the Ormesby team scoring a hat trick whilst Tom Hand and Keith Lewis won two each. Anthony Montague and Glyn Robinson replied with one each for Nunthorpe C. The closest victory for Ormesby F was when Keith Lewis beat Anthony Montague, Lewis was trailing by two games to one before winning the fourth at 11-9 and the decider at 13-11.
These results put East Cleveland in pole position as they have 113 points from 14 matches. Ormesby F currently head the table with 114 points but having played one fixture more. The team in third place Swerve D are probably too far behind now to be able to catch the two front runners with 99 points from 14 matches.
