With a 9-1 victory by Swerve A over Ormesby A the top of the first division championship of the Middlesbrough and District Table Tennis League title race has been taken into the last week of fixtures.

With 3 wins each for Alec Ward and Josh Harland plus 2 from Kiernan Wardell, Swerve clinched a convincing victory.  Ward was the star of the match scoring a hat trick with only one of his matches against Jack Cope needing a fourth game. Josh Harland also played well to win all of his matches including a victory over David Gofton which he won by 11-8 in the decider.  Kiernan Wardell won 2. He almost scored a hat trick, but he was beaten by Jack Cope 14-12 in the decider. He beat George Hill at 11-9 in the fifth game.

Swerve A have completed their fixtures and have 111 points from their 16 matches.

Ormesby A also have 111 points with a match in hand.

Beaumont Accountancy have now come very much into the frame with 110 points from 15 matches.

The final fixture of the season is when Ormesby A entertain Beaumont Accountancy. Either side would secure the championship with a win. A 5 all draw would mean that the championship would go to Ormesby by just one point.
