A good weekend for Newbury the senior team of John Goodyer, Terry White and Amir Shankar had two good wins.
First up was Maidenhead, it was 2-2 going into the final 2 games, John beat Sue Hayes three straight and Amir beat their number 1, Majiec Dlugozima 11-9 in the 5th. Making a 4-2 team victory.
The second match was against Bracknell where we won 5-1 with 100%'s for Amit and John in the match and for the day.
The vets were represented by Paul Rattue, Duncan Groves and Alan Duke, the vets saw off Maidenhead 5-1 with good wins for both Paul and Duncan getting maximums. They then went on to repeat the emphatic scoreline 5-1 with Paul and Duncan again getting maximums and Alan playing his part getting the other victory.
Unfortunately Reading were unable to field a team this week and will not be in final week either.
This puts Newbury ahead in the main competition and in a very strong position to win going into the final weekend on 1st Feb.
For those who wish to play in the final match, if you haven't been contacted yet please let John Goodyer know, let's get a good strong team out to win the competition.
