Champions Thatcham A kicked off their season with a 7-3 victory over Thatcham Nomads, they fielded a strong team whereas Nomads were without top man Ray Powell. . Ross Saxby won all three for the A team with Andy Barnes getting a double .Nat Richardson was Nomads best with two wins.
Ashford Hill Ramblers who were second last season had a comfortable 9-1 win over newly promotes AWE with Sam Ricks and Paul Rattue getting maximums with Terry White two . John McLarty was the sole success for AWE
Kintbury Jog had a great win over Woolton Hill Eagles inflicting a 7-3 defeat on the hosts New signing Dom Cutter with three wins and Adam Pacyna with two had good debuts and with Mark Wheeler also winning twice it was an impressive start Anthony Baker recorded two victories for Eagles
Woolton Hill Badgers got their first two points in the top division after being promoted last season when they drew 5-5 with Thatcham Thunder . Thunder had Barry Carter to thank for their share of the spoils when he earned a hard fought maximum , his match against Andy Moore was an epic game of hitting and defending and Andy was unlucky to lose three straight ,.Moore and Alan Fuller both won twice for Badgers
Woolton Hill Wombats were this weeks biggest winners with a 10 -0 defeat of promoted Thatcham X with Jonathan Hopson Robin Burns and new man Simon Sonsino doing the damage Thatcham X will have easier matches than this and will pick up points throughout the season
Thatcham Lions were good winners away to Thatcham A and E Specials although some good close matches they won 9-1 Eddie Haines playing up in this division for first time was impressive winning all his games in three and with support from Skipper Jeff Rogers three and Phil Gibbs two . Lorraine Mortimer getting the home teams only win .
Thatcham Spartans beat Thatcham Scavengers also by 9-1 but it was not as easy as the score suggests with only two matches won in three sets . Martin Gilby and Eric Panting both won all three with Celia Hooker getting two . Bill Stamatiou getting Scavengers sole win .
New formed team Kintbury Cobra's had a close 6-4 win over Ashford Hill Misfits with Ian Wu getting three good victories and Chris Watson winning a couple Wendy Porter won twice for the losers .
New Club and team Rosemoor Wrecking Balls (the first Newbury based team for many years ) got off to a flier inflicting a 9-1 victory over Thatcham Dragons . Johathan Kwa and David Mcmahon had maximums whilst Matt Mcmahon won two . Chris Nash was Dragons victor .
Thatcham Hawks secured a home win over Kintbury Outlaws mainly due to Geoff Eldred's treble and two from Ian Dickason and both of them combining to take the doubles. Outlaws David Rawlings got a brace .
Bob Nash with three wins got Inkpen Insuffereable a 6-4 win against Woolton Hill Woodpeckers and Rob Sim got a couple . Archie Dyson played well for Woodpeckers and was rewarded with two victories.
West Ilsley B and Thatcham Spitfires fought out a 5-5 draw with Spitfires John Panting man of the match with a triple . Lionel Shepperd And Deryck Crossley winning two a piece for Ilsley
