Latest on return 13.8.20

Despite the government permitting indoor sports to commence from 25th July Teign School have yet to open their facilities for Community use.

Unfortunately this could still be a while yet as it seems the educational sector are pretty reluctant to open their premises to ‘outsiders’.  This is having a massive impact on the return to our sport and will prevent the commencement of league table tennis in the near future, despite reports to the contrary from our governing body, Table Tennis England.

Our local leagues are not considering a restart until early 2021.

Pressure is supposedly being put on educational establishments to allow community use but I doubt this will have much effect.  It will be up to each establishment to decide when it will be safe to open up.

Newton Abbot Table Tennis Club is 100% prepared for an immediate return, with all government and TTE safety requirements in place, as soon as we get the green light.

When we get any positive news from Teign School all club members will be informed.

Meanwhile you may book a table at local sports centres in Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and Dawlish. Although a fair trek away, Okehampton Table Tennis Centre is open and would welcome anyone from our club up there.
