Week 12 Report

                Week 12 Report – w/b 10 December 2017

Torrington A are looking to end the calendar year on top of division 1. They now have 75 points, a 4 point lead over Misfits, with Smugglers on 68. The top three teams all had 8-2 wins this week. Smugglers were led by a very strong performance from Matthew Thomas against Nets and Edges, winning all three, backed by two each from Martin Babulik and Peter Hedge. Misfits beat Balls of Fury in a match with lots of close contests. Daniel Moore and Martyn Beer were challenged but unbeaten on the night. Torrington A saw off the challenge of Chulmleigh A with the Taylor duo recording three wins each.

In division 2 Chulmleigh B are looking strong on 89 points, with Paddlers now second but having played a game more. Minions are third on  81, and Holsworthy B a point behind them.

Malc Overson continues to score well. A maximum this week against Simply Smashing including the scalp of James Raymont in a very tight game. Despicables however lost 3-7. There were also lots of 5 set games when Chiefs met Littleham. Joey Butt of the Chiefs played 15 games on the night – winning two matches. Dave Stone was unbeaten for Littleham, backed by two good points from Alan Pomeroy.

Bill Tregellas kept up his good form for Minions against West Buckland, taking all three games in a 7-3 win. Steve Richardson backed up with two points while Alan Briggs scored two for West Buckland. Buddy Wahl showed lots of promise, winning one for Minions and Coming close in his other games.  Paddlers are picking up points well lately – this week with a 9-1 win over The Vice. Tim Cooke and Robin Gale won three games each.

Holsworthy A had an emphatic win over Dolphins 10-0. Dave and Owen Salisbury and Nathan Jukes all proving too hot to handle. The 'A's I think also had a re-arranged match this week, winning 9-1. 19 points in one week sounds pretty good, and does your league position no harm!

Finally, there was a Sutcombe local derby as Holsworthy B played the C's. With David Streak and Barry Stearman each winning three games, the B's beat the C's 7-3. Doug Genini and Sumiyo Berkeley had a good win for the C's in the doubles, in a tight 5 setter.
