Week 7 Report

Week 7 Report – w/b 6/11/2017

The Division 1 table reads Misfits and Smugglers on 43, with Torrington A on 42. Is this a shock of seismic proportions? Have Torrington lost their way? This week Misfits beat them 6-4 with two each from Keith le Milliere and Daniel Moore. Ben Taylor won all of his, but a critical match was between Torrington’s Chris Thompson and Peter Kneil. Chris lost the first game 11-1, but eventually won 12 -10 in the fifth.

Smugglers have been picking up lots of points lately. This week brought a 10-0 win over Chulmleigh A. Peter Hedge, Matthew Thomas and Terry Wright securing the maximum win. In the other match Spin Doctors had a healthy victory over Nets and Edges 7-3. Dave Ewen is clearly in good form, winning his three and dropping only one game. Martyn Eyles won two for the Nets and Edges.

Division 2 has Holsworthy B on 56 points, but they can’t rest on their laurels. Chulmleigh B have 50 points and Minions 47 – each having played a game less.

Holsworthy B beat West Buckland 7-3. David Streak kept up his winning streak (sorry!) with three comprehensive wins, backed up with two from Jill Knightly. Jai Moore from West Buckland is certainly improving, scoring two of his sides points against difficult opponents.

Chulmleigh B didn’t show a lot of brotherly love to the Chulmleigh Chiefs, running out 10- 0 winners thanks to Dave Gray, Gerard O’Boyle and Shaun Clarke.

Minions had a very good night against Littleham with a 9-1 win. Dave Andrews was in fine form with his first triple win this season, dropping only one game in the process. Steve Richardson also recorded a maximum score.

Simply Smashing and Holsworthy A has a close encounter with Holsworthy coming out on top 6-4. There were lots of close games, especially between James Raymont and Dave Salisbury. Dave Salisbury won all of his three in the end, with Rhys Eyles picking up two for the home team. Despicables’ Malc Overson continues to make life difficult for opponents, this week scoring two good points against Paddlers, one of them a 14-12 win in the fifth. Robin Gale won all his three for the Paddlers, who won 8-2

In the final match, Holsworthy C picked up a 7-3 win over the Vice. Rob Woodhouse, Doug Genini and Sumiyo Berkeley each picking up two. Sumiyo is hitting form these days, and won a long battle against newcomer Simon Wright – a battle only settled 13-11 in the fifth. Bob Taylor for the Vice is getting back to form picking up his team’s three points.
