Week 2 Report

Week 2 report – w/b 2 October

Are the Spin Doctors going to cause palpitations in the other division 1 teams? They followed up a good performance last week, with a 10-0 operation against Chulmleigh A. Michael Sussex, Dave Morgan and Dave Ewen claimed three victories each, though Pawel Ciebien put up some stern resistance.

Torrington A put in a strong performance against Balls of Fury – winning 8-2 thanks to maximum scores from Chris Thompson and Ben Taylor. The other match in the division was a close affair between Misfits and Smugglers, with Misfits running out 6-4 winners. Key match was perhaps Keith le Milliere against Peter Hedge. Keith was 2-0 down, having lost the first 19-21, then came through 11-9 in the fifth.

In Division 2, Simply Smashing lived up to their name, with a 10-0 demolition of Dolphins.  Maximum points won by Rhys Eyles, James Raymont and Jack Thomas.  Paddlers and Holsworthy A had a close encounter with the home side emerging victorious 6-4.  Rob Gale was star performer, winning his three matches without dropping a game.

Defending champions, Chulmleigh B, had a less than auspicious start, scraping a nervous 6-4 over a gallant Minions.  Match of the day saw Dave Grey recovering from 0-2 down and saving three match points before edging a victory over Bill Tregellas. Dave Grey won all three of his matches, with Bill Tregellas claiming the other two of his.

West Buckland have made a strong start to the season. This week saw a 9-1 victory at the VICE, with both Jai Moore and Alan Briggs winning all three – despite strong resistance from Bob Taylor.

Malc Overson won all three of his games for Despicables, but couldn't stop Holsworthy C running out 6-4 winners, with two each from Rob Woodhouse and Doug Genini.

Holsworthy B have made a very solid start to the season, following up last weeks 10-0 win with a good 7-3 win at Littleham.
