Ramsey Round 1

Round 1 of this year's Ramsey provided some good competition and plenty of close games. Four matches finished 5-4.

The Holsworthy teams had mixed fortunes. The 'C' lost 3-6 to Balls of Fury while the 'B' team had a clear win 5-1 over West Buckland.

Chulmleigh B just lost to Smugglers by the odd point. The Chulmleigh team only had two players on the night, so it was a valiant effort. The other two Chulmleigh teams are through – the Chiefs beating Littleham, while the A team defeated the Vice.

Minions and Torrington A had a cracking match. Four games decided on sudden death in the final set! Sadly for this reporter, Torrington just won through 5-4 – but they were given a fright!

Spin Doctors has a good victory over Nets and Edges. Very creditable performannce by Michael Sussex and Dave Ewen, seeing that they had only two players.  Despicables were pleased to put paid to Paddlers. It was a close one -5-4 – settled by the doubles pairing of Chris Overson and Richard Nicholls.

The remaining match was between Misfits and Simply Smashing. Here, the division 2 team had a great win by 6-3.

The final tie of the round – between Holsworthy A and Dolphins – will be played shortly.

The draw for round two will be made soon. Round two will be in the week beginning 5 March.  It is good to see that a good mix of teams from each division are going forward.
