Week 14 report

Week 14 report  - w/b 15 January

Not much Christmas spirit left in north Devon as many matches this week ended in 10-0 victories!

In division 1, Torrington A are on 87 points – 5 ahead of Smugglers with Misfits third on 81.

The Smugglers trio of Peter Hedge Peter Dunstan and Matthew Thomas showed no mercy to Chulmleigh A in a 10-0 result. Spin Doctors had a comfortable 8-2 win over Nets and Edges, though it could have been closer.  Dave Ewen beat Harry Thomas 13-11 in the fifth. Michael Sussex won all three for the victors, while Martyn Eyles won the Nets two points.

Torrington A versus Misfits was close.  Kevin Taylors 3 helped to settle it 6-4 in the A's favour. Misfits Daniel Moore had a good two points including a victory over Ben Taylor.  Four games went to a deciding set.

In division 2, Chulmleigh B are on 109 points, 11 ahead of Holsworthy B, with Paddlers coming up on the rails.

Three games ended 10-0 – the victors being Chulmleigh B, Paddlers and Holsworthy B.

Chulmleigh's trio of Dave Gray, Gerard O'Boyle and Shaun Clarke were pressed most closely in the doubles, winning 11-9 in the deciding set.  Paddlers win looked very routine, though a number of games went to deuce – all settled in Paddlers' favour.

Holsworthy A led by Dave Salisbury and Nathan Jukes with 3 wins each were dominant against the Vice, only dropping games in the one tie that was lost.

West Buckland had a good win at Littleham, running out 6-4 victors. Jai Moore won all three of his, while dad Dave had two excellent wins over the difficult Mike Bellew and Alan Pomeroy.

Finally, Simply Smashing reversed their defeat in week 1 with a close win -6-4 over Minions. James Raymont led the way with a hard-hitting triple.  Bill Tregellas and Steve Richardson gained the Minions' points.
