Division 2 Singles And Doubles Competition 2018-19

A really busy and competitive evening's table tennis decided the division 2 singles and doubles championships, with 12 strong entries.

The singles were organised into two round robin groups with the top two from each going into the semi-finals. Group 1 was very tight, with no unbeaten players. Ashley Taylor came top with 4 wins, but there were three players equal in second place - Tim Cooke, Nathan Jukes and Mike Bellew. After a rapid fire play off, Nathan Jukes emerged to grab the second semi-final place.

Group 2 was more straight-forward. Dave Stone won all his games to top the group with Dave Sillifant in second place, though Doug Genini was very close to gaining a share of second place

The three leg semis saw Dave Stone beat Nathan Jukes and Dave Sillifant beat team mate Ashley Taylor. The first game of the final went to Dave Stone 15-13. Then the tide was turned and Dave Sillifant won the title by taking the next three, reversing the result of the Round Robin.

The doubles competition was on a round robin system, with matches to best of three. Dave Sillifant and Ashley Taylor took the title winning all their games, though Doug Genini and Nathan Jukes came very close to making it a three way tie. Tim Cooke and Dave Sweeney had four wins to take the runner-up spot.
