NTTL Reports 2017-2018 Season

Week 1 - W/C 18th September

Premier Division

The new season began with 24 registered teams which resulted in all three divisions having eight, playing each other three times. It was sad to lose the Malcolm Arnold Academy as a venue and their teams but it is good to see most of the players with other clubs.

Westfield Dragons, formerly MA Dragons, last season's champions, got off to a geat start with an 8-2 win against Kingsley A with a hat-trick by Dan Smalley and two each by Nick Howard and Matt Horrocks. Brian Wooding salvaged the two points for Kingsley.

Northampton Hares, formerly MA Hares, did likewise against Headlands Harriers thanks to a hat-trick by Steve Hobbs, two from Pawel Juraszczyk and one from David George. Ian Baldock and Auch Demeter replied with one win each.

DCA Flyers and DCA Panthers fought out a 5-5 draw on the night but then, sadly,  it was discovered that Alec Kingston was ineligible to play and his points from the match were deducted resulting in a 7-3 win for the Flyers, not a good start for the Panthers.

 

Division 1

DCA Tigers beat DCA Eagles(ex Malcolm Arnold) 7-3 with Rob George scoring a hat trick and Glen Davison and Oleg Plugaru both scoring doubles. Frank Whiteley and Aled Roberts scored the Eagles points with one apiece and a doubles victory.

Headlands Hedgehogs(previously Otis) promoted from Div 2 and lost their first game 4-6 to ACC A. James Peel and Phil Hackett both scored doubles for the Hogs. Chris Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall also scored doubles for ACC with Pete Gibbs winning one. ACC also took the doubles.

Saints were relegated from the Prem and had a 6-4  victory over Headlands Hawks with Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson bagging a pair and Mick Henderson winning one. Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson took the doubles to secure the win. For the Hawks Mayur Shah and John McMahon both won twice.

Gayton and Kingsley C fought a 5-5 draw with Dave Nicholls winning twice and Suraj Ajit and Richard Pringuer both securing a point for Gayton. David and Richard also took the doubles. Scott Dixon scored a hat trick for Kingsley with Clive Appleton and Terry Spurgeon scoring one apiece.

 

Division 2

Headlands Hornets start the season with a 9-1 win against ACC B. Steve Battison and Trevor Little both record trebles while Gwyn Powell won two. Steve and Gwyn then teamed up to win the doubles. Julie Neal won one in reply for ACC.

DCA Leopards beat DCA Lions 8-2 thanks to a hat trick from Felix Machine-Bradbury with doubles coming from Mark Bradbury and Ian McIlwaine. Felix and Mark also teamed up to win the doubles. Fred Wakefield won two in reply for the Lions.

Bridge and Headlands Hyenas drew 5-5. Joe White and Eugene Nolan both won two each while Alex Brown won one for Bridge. For the Hyenas, Dave Smith won three and Graham Dove won one. They then teamed up to win the doubles.

 

Week 2 - W/C 25th September

Premier Division

Kingsley A bounced back with a 10-0 thrashing of DCA Flyers with only one event needing an extra set, Brian Wooding. Tony Woodward and Chris Stone all gaining trebles and Brian and Tony teaming up to beat Jordan Wood and Jack Fisher in the doubles.

Westfield Dragons carried on where they left off last week with an 8-2 away win against Headlands Harriers with hat-tricks from both Dan Smalley and Nick Howard and one from Matt Horrocks, Dan and Nick also combining to win the doubles against Ian Baldock and Auch Demeter. Auch and Ian both beat Matt to gain the Harriers two points.

Northampton Hares beat Kingsley B 7-3 with a hat-trick from Steve Hobbs, two from Pawel Juraszczyk and one from David George. This was despite a determined effort by Kingsley with seven of the events needing extra sets. For Kingsley Andy Harrison won two and Tony Wharton one.

Park Avenue, whose match last week was postponed, opened up their account with a 10-0 victory against DCA Panthers, Gerald Henson, Jamie Chamberlain and Andy Wood all remaining unbeaten on the night.

 

Division 1

Gayton beat Headlands Hedgehogs 6-4 with Richard Pringuer scoring a hat trick David Howard a double and Suraj Ajit won one. For the Hogs James Peel won twice Phil Hackett won one and they also took the doubles.

Saints had a 6-4 win over ACC A with Nigel Thompson scoring a maximum Mick Henderson winning twice and Mick Allen once. Chris Gibbs won two for ACC and Duncan Brudenall one. These two also took the doubles.

DCA Tigers beat Kingsley C 8-2 with Oleg Plugaru scoring  a treble and Rob George and Ricky Bastin scoring doubles .Rob and Oleg also took the doubles. Scott Dixon scored both points for Kingsley.

DCA Eagles beat Headlands Hawks with Aled Roberts unbeaten and Mark Thomas and Terry Brennan both winning one. Mark and Aled also took the doubles for the Eagles. Mayur Shah and John McMahon both scored doubles for the Hawks

 

 

Division 2

DCA Leopards go top after a 7-3 win against Headlands Herons. The Leopards trio of Austin Wilkinson, Paul Nichols and Ian McIlwaine all won two each with Paul and Ian then teaming up to win the doubles. In reply for the Herons, James Bashford won two and Keith Parsons won one.

Bridge are second after a 8-2 win against ACC B. For Bridge Alex Brown and Eugene Nolan both won three each while Joe White won one. Eugene and Joe then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for ACC Michael Shannon and Dave Kerslake won one each.

DCA Lions beat Headlands Hornets 6-4 thanks to Fred Wakefield winning three, Sue Armstrong winning two and Katy Armstrong winning one. For the Hornets, Steve Battison won two and Trevor Little won one. Steve and Gwyn Powell then teamed up to win the doubles.

Headlands Hares beat Headlands Hyenas 6-4. For the Hares, Trevan Vass won three, Sue Moloney won two and Kevin Hewes won one. In reply for the Hyenas, Dave Smith won two and Graham Dove won one. Dave and Graham then teamed up to win the doubles.

 

Week 3 - W/C 2nd October

Premier Division

Westfield Dragons showed that they are going to be the main contenders for the title again this season when they demolished Park Avenue by 9-1 with trebles from Dan Smalley and Ian Johnston and two from Nick Howard. Andy Wood salvaged a point for the Avenue, beating Nick Howard by 19-17 in the fourth set.

In the local derby of the two Kingsley teams the A side triumphed by 9-1 with hat-tricks from Brian Wooding and Tony Woodward and two from Chris Stone. Andy Law saved the whitewash with his win against Chris.

Northampton Hares defeated DCA Panthers by 6-4 with braces from all three players, Steve Hobbs, Pawel Juraszczyk and David George. Panthers have now signed on Martin Hall and he won two of his singles and George Bashford one and they then teamed up to win the doubles.

DCA Flyers, strengthened by the inclusion of Guy Sparrow, who hit a hat-trick, beat Headlands Harriers by 6-4, Andrejus Sateika and Jack Fisher adding one each. The Harriers fought back with two each by Ian Baldock and Auch Demeter but the combination of Guy and Jack proved too strong for Auch and Victor Codnor in the doubles winning in four sets.

 

 

Division 1

Saints beat Kingsley C 8-2 with Mick Henderson and Nigel Thompson both scoring hat tricks with Mick Allen winning one after taking a fifth set victory 15-13 over John Stamp. Mick's Henderson and Allen also took the doubles. Clive Appleton and Terry Spurgeon scored the Kingsley points.

A two man Headlands Hawks lost to Gayton 7-3 with Mayur Shah winning two and Hartley Hancock one. For Gayton Richard  Pringuer  Suraj Ajit and David Howard all won one with David and Richard also taking the doubles and three points were conceded by the Hawks.

DCA Eagles had a 6-4 victory over ACC A with Aled Roberts and Frank Whiteley winning twice and also took the doubles. Terry Brennan completed the scoring with one win. For ACC Chris Gibbs scored a maximum with Duncan Brudenall scoring one.

DCA Tigers had an 8-2 win over Headlands Hedgehogs with Robert George scoring a treble and Ricky Bastin and Greg Norden  both scoring doubles with Robert and Greg also taking the doubles. Phil Hackett and James Peel both won one for the Hogs.

 

Division 2

Headlands Hares beat Headlands Hornets 10-0 thanks to hat tricks from Trevan Vass, Alan Creed and Sue Moloney. Trevan and Alan also teamed up to win the doubles.

 

Bridge beat DCA Lions 8-2 with Eugene Nolan winning three while there were doubles from Wayde Sheppy and Alex Brown. Eugene and Alex then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Lions, Fred Wakefield won two.

 

Headlands Herons beat ACC B 9-1 thanks to hat tricks from James and Steve Bashford while Keith Parsons chipped in with two wins. James and Keith then teamed up to win the doubles. Michael Shannon won one in reply for ACC.

 

Week 4 - W/C 9th October

Premier Division

Westfield Dragons head the table with a 10-0 victory over Kingsley B, showing their strength in depth with two of their regular players missing. Nicole Bird, Ian Johnston and Matt Horrocks all won their matches comfortably with only two events needing a fourth set.

Park Avenue recovered from their heavy defeat last week and won comfortably by10-0, against DCA Flyers, Jamie Chamberlain, Gerald Henson and Andy Wood all unbeaten on the night.

Brian Wooding scored a hat-trick for Kingsley A in their encounter with Northampton Hares giving them a good advantage, which was increased by two wins by Tony Woodward and one by Chris Stone. Then Brian and Chris combined to win the final doubles against Steve Hobbs and Pawel Juraszczyk. For the Hares Steve won two and Pawel one.

Headlands Harriers won their first match of the season when they triumphed by 6-4 against DCA Panthers, with two wins each by Auch Demeter and Ian Baldock, who also teamed up to win the final doubles, and one by Victor Codnor, his first win too. For the Panthers Martin Hall hit a hat trick and George Bashford won one and went to five sets in both his other singles.

 

 

Division 1

Gayton had a great 7-3 win over Saints with David Howard scoring a maximum and David Allen and Suraj Ajit both scoring doubles. Nigel Thompson scored all three points for Saints winning two singles and combining with Mick Allen to take the doubles.

Headlands Hedgehogs beat DCA Eagles 7=3 with James Peel and Phil Hackett both scoring trebles and also taking the doubles. Paul Nichols Terry Brennan and Frank Whiteley all won one for the Eagles.

DCA Tigers beat a two man Headlands Hawks 9=1 with Robert George and Greg Norden both remaining undefeated with Ricky Bastin winning one. Greg and Ricky Bastin also took the doubles for the Tigers 12-10 in the fifth. Mayur Shah scored the Hawks point.

 

Division 2

Headlands Hares beat ACC B 10-0 thanks to hat tricks from Alan Creed, Kevin Hewes and Sue Moloney. Alan and Sue also teamed up to win the doubles.

 

Headlands Herons beat DCA Lions 10-0 with Keith Parsons, James and Steve Bashford all recording trebles with Keith and James also teaming to win the doubles.

 

Headlands Hornets drew 5-5 with Headlands Hyenas. For the Hornets, Bob Underwood and Alan Dale won two each while Gwyn Powell won one. In reply for the Hyenas, David Smith won three and Graham Dove won two. Graham and David then teamed up to win the doubles.

 

Week 5 - W/C 16th October

Premier Division

Westfield Dragons march on with a 9-1 victory over DCA Flyers with trebles from Nick Howard and Dan Smalley and two from Matt Horrocks. Flyers solitary point came from Guy Sparrow's four set win against Matt.

Kingsley B and DCA Panthers fought out a 5-5 draw, ten events needing extra sets. No hat-tricks here but Kingsley led the way in the singles with two wins each by Tony Wharton and Andy Harrison and one by Andy Law. Panthers replied with two wins each by Ray Kingston and Martin Hall who also beat Tony and Andy Harrison to win a five setter doubles to square the match .

Park Avenue won their away encounter with Northampton Hares by 7-3 despite a hat-trick for the home side by Aiden Smith. However several of the events could have gone the other way with nine events needing extra sets. Pawel Juraszczyk for the Hares was unlucky to lose all three with two of them in five sets and the other in four. For Park Avenue Jamie Chamberlain, Gerald Henson and Andy Wood all won two of their singles and the latter pair beat Aiden and Pawel in the final doubles.

Kingsley A whitewashed Headlands Harriers 10-0 with only two events needing an extra set.

 

 

Division 1

Headlands Hedgehogs beat Kingsley C 6-4 with James Peel scoring a hat trick with Phil Hackett and Steve Fuller both winning one and Steve and James also took the doubles. John Stamp and Terry Spurgeon both won twice for Kingsley.

DCA Tigers had a 10-0 win over Gayton with Ricky Bastin Greg Norden and Robert George all scoring maximums with Greg and Robert also taking the doubles.

Saints beat DCA Eagles 7-3 with Mick Henderson Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson all scoring doubles with Mick Henderson and Nigel Thompson also taking the doubles. Aled Roberts scored a maximum for the Eagles 

Headlands Hawks beat a two man ACC A 6-4 with Mayur Shah and John McMahon both won one and John teamed up with Hartley Hancock to take the doubles with three points conceded. Chris Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall both won two for ACC. 

 

Division 2

Headlands Hares are top after a 6-4 win against DCA Leopards. Alan Creed and Trevan Vass won two each while Sue Moloney won one. Alan and Sue then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Leopards Paul Nichols won three and Felix Machin-Bradbury won one.

Bridge are second after a 8-2 win against Headlands Hornets. Steve Carroll won three while Aaron Donoghue and Alex Brown won two each. Steve and Alex also teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Hornets, Bob Underwood won two.

Headlands Herons are third after a 5-5 draw against Headlands Hyenas. For the Herons, James and Steve Bashford won two each while Keith Parsons won one. In reply for the Hyenas, David Smith won three and Graham Dove won one, they then teamed up to win the doubles.

DCA Lions won 6-4 against ACC B who were a player short. Sue Armstrong won two while Katy Armstrong won one. For ACC Michael Shannon won two and Dave Kerslake won one. They then teamed up to win the doubles.

Week 6 - W/C 23rd October

Premier Division

The shock of the week came in the Westfield derby between Westfield Dragons and Northampton Hares who this season share the same venue when Dan Smalley of the Dragons lost two of his three singles, going down to both Pawel Juraszczyk and Aiden Smith. The dragons ran out winners though by 7-3 but it was a close contest with eleven extra sets needed. There were trebles for both Nick Howard and Matt Horrocks for the Dragons and two wins for Aiden Smith and One for Steve Hobbs for the Hares/

A hat-trick from Guy Sparrow and two wins by Jordan Wood gave DCA Flyers the advantage over Kingsley B but Kingsley fought back with two wins by Andy Law and one each by Andy Harrison and Tony Wharton. However Guy and Jordan teamed up to win the doubles against the two Andy's to take the match by 6-4.

Hat-tricks by Andy Wood and Jamie Chamberlain and one win by Gerald Henson enabled Park Avenue to defeat Headlands Harriers by 8-2. Ian Baldock and Auch Demeter both beat Gerald to gain the Harriers' two points.

Kingsley A inflicted a comfortable 10-0 victory over DCA Panthers with trebles from Brian Wooding, Tony Woodward and Chris Stone, despite Mark Stewart and Ray Kingston taking Brian to 5 and 4 sets respectively. 

 

 

Division 1

DCA Tigers had a 9-1 over two man Saints whose point came from Nigel Thompson. The Tigers Greg Norden and Oleg Plugaru scored hat tricks and Robert George won two with Rob and Greg also taking the doubles.

DCA Eagles beat Kingsley C 6-4 with Aled Roberts and Anna Wilson both winning two and Paul Nichols won one with Paul and Aled also took the doubles. Kingsley's new signing Reza Mafi scored a maximum with Terry Spurgeon  winning one.

Headlands Hawks beat Headlands Hedgehogs 7-3 with John McMahon scoring a hat trick Mayur Shah a double and Hartley Hancock won one Mayur and John also took the doubles. Steve Fuller Phil Hackett and James Peel all won one for the Hogs.

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares remain top after a 9-1 win against DCA Lions. Trevan Vass and Alan Creed won three each and also combined to win the doubles, while Sue Moloney won two. Katy Armstrong won one in reply for the Lions.

Bridge remain second after a 9-1win against Headlands Herons. Alex Brown and Steve Carroll won three each while Colin Haddon won two. Alex and Colin then teamed up to win the doubles. James Bashford won one in reply for the Herons.

DCA Leopards moved up to third after a 10-0 win against Headlands Hornets. Ian McIlwaine, Felix Machin-Bradbury and Mark Bradbury all recorded trebles with Felix and Mark also combining to win the doubles.

Headlands Hyenas beat ACC B, who were a player short, 8-2. Graham Dove and Dave Smith won both their matches and also combined to win the doubles. In reply for ACC Dave Kerslake and Michael Shannon won one each.

 

Week 7 - W/C 30th October

Premier Division

Another big win for Westfield Dragons, this time a 10-0 whitewash over DCA Panthers, takes them well ahead of their closest rivals in the Premier Division.

Northampton Hares beat the other DCA side, the Flyers by 9-1 with hat-tricks from Aiden Smith and Pawel Juraszczyk and two wins by David George. the single point for the Flyers coming from Andrejus Sateika's win against David.

Park Avenue and Kingsley A, the probable closest rivals to Westfield Dragons for the title, were involved in a tight match this week. The visitors, Kingsley, gained the early advantage and led by 5-4 after the singles with two wins each by Brian Wooding and Chris Stone and one by Tony Woodward. This was despite a hat-trick from Jamie Chamberlain and Andy Wood's victory over Tony. However Jamie and Gerald then paired up to defeat Brian and Chris 12-10 in the fourth set to share the spoils at 5-5.

Kingsley B just got the better of Headlands Harriers with a hat-trick by Andy Harrison, two wins by newcomer Reza Mafi and one by Andy Law. For the Harriers Ian Baldock won two and Auch Demeter one and they also combined to win a marathon doubles by 12-10 in the fifth set to make the final score 6-4 to Kingsley.

 

Division 1

DCA Tigers are sweeping all before them and this week beat ACC A 9-1 with Chris Gibbs scoring the solitary point for ACC A. Robert George and Greg Norden both scored hat tricks and also took the doubles  with Oleg Plugaru winning two.

Kingsley C had a 7-3 win over Headlands Hawks with John Stamp and Reza Mafi both scoring maximums and also winning the doubles. Mayur Shah Hartley Hancock and John McMahon all scored one for the Hawks.

DCA Eagles beat Gayton 8-2 with Frank Whiteley and Aled Roberts both scoring hat tricks and also taking the doubles. Anna Wilson chipped in with one win. Suraj Ajit and David Howard both won one for Gayton

Headlands Hedgehogs beat a two man Saints 6-4 with James Peel winning two and Steve Fuller one with three points conceded. For the Saints Nigel Thompson won two and Mick Allen one also taking the doubles. 

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares won 7-3 to remain top despite only having two players for their match against Bridge. Trevan Vass and Graham Shaw both won three each and then combined to win the doubles.

DCA Leopards remain third after a 9-1 win against ACC B. Ian McIlwaine and Felix Machin-Bradbury both recorded trebles while Mark Bradbury won two. Felix and Mark then combined to win the doubles. Michael Shannon won one in reply for ACC.

Headlands Herons beat Headlands Hornets 7-3 thanks to hat tricks from James Bashford and Keith Parsons. James and Keith also teamed up to win the doubles. The Hornets points came after Roy Smyth retired hurt during the first match.

Headlands Hyenas beat DCA Lions 8-2 thanks to trebles from Graham Dove and Dave Smith, who also teamed up to win the doubles, while Paul Dzialak chipped in with one win. In reply for the Lions, Katy Armstrong and Fred Wakefield won one each.

 

Week 8 - W/C 6th November

Premier Division

Westfield Dragons had an unexpectedly big win over one of their closest rivals Park Avenue who could field only two players as Andy Wood has decided to have a rest from table tennis. They are looking around for a replacement player. The dragons' trio of Nick Howard, Dan Smalley and Matt Horrocks were all unbeaten on the night as they triumphed by 10-0.

The local derby by the two DCA sides ended in a 7-3 victory for the Flyers with Guy Sparrow hitting a hat-trick, Jordan Wood gaining a brace and the two teamed up to win the doubles. For the Panthers Martin Hall won two and George Bashford one.

Steve Hobbs' hat-trick for Northampton Hares give them a good advantage in their encounter with Headlands Harriers but the Harriers fought back well with two wins apiece by Auch Demeter and Ian Baldock. Hoever one win each by Pawel Jurszczyk and David George and a doubles win by Steve and Pawel over Auch and Ian gave the Hares a 6-4 victory.

The Kingsley A v Kingsley B match was postponed.

Division 1

Saints beat a two man Kingsley C 7-3 with Adam Bradshaw Nigel Thompson and Mick Allen all winning one with Adam and Nigel winning the double with three points conceded. Reza Mafi won all three points for Kingsley.

DCA Tigers beat DCA Eagles 7-3 with Greg Norden and Ivor Howard both scoring maximums and Paddy Patel won one. For the Eagles Terry Brennan and Frank Whiteley both won one and also took the doubles.

Headlands Hedgehogs had a 7-3 win over ACC A with Phil Hackett scoring a treble James Peel a double and Steve Fuller won one. Chris Gibbs won two for ACC with one game conceded by Hedgehogs due to work commitments.

Headlands Hawks beat Gayton 6-4 with Mayur Shah scoring a maximum and Hartley Hancock and John McMahon both winning one and also taking the doubles. David Allen and Suraj Ajit both scored doubles for Gayton.

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares stay top after a 7-3 win against the Headlands Hornets. Hares only had two players in Trevan Vass and Graham Shaw who both won three each and then combined to win the doubles.

DCA Leopards moved up to second place after beating DCA Lions 7-3. Ian McIlwaine hit a hat trick while Austin Wilkinson and Mark Bradbury won two each. In reply for the Lions, Katy and Sue Armstrong won one each and then combined to win the doubles.

Headlands Herons are now third after a 10-0 win against ACC B. James and Steve Bashford and Keith Parsons all recorded trebles with James and Keith also teaming up to win the doubles.

 

Week 9 - W/C 13th November

Premier Division

Despite having only two players Park Avenue defeated DCA Flyers comfortably by 10-0 with trebles by both Jamie Chamberlain and Gerald Henson, the two also combining to with the doubles.

In a closely contested match Kingsley A beat Northampton Hares by 6-4 mainly thanks to a hat-trick by Brian Wooding and a brace by Tony Woodward. Steve Hobbs replied with two wins and David George and Pawel Jutaszczyk both beat Chris Stone to make the score 5-4 to Kingsley after the singles. However Kingsley too the final doubles to gain the victory.

Lowly Kingsley B managed to take two points off the leaders Westfield Dragons with Andy Harrison beating both Nock Howard and Matt Hottocks, both in five sets. Some of the events were quite close too with eleven extra sets needing to be played before the Dragons ran out 8-2 winners. 

DCA Panthers beat Headlands Harriers by 6-4 with a hat-trick by Martin Hall and two wins by George Bashford with the Harriers fighting back with two wins by Victor Codnor and one each by Auch Demeter and Ian Baldock. The Panthers sealed the win by taking the final doubles.

 

Division 1

Headlands Eagles had a 7-3 victory over Headlands Hedgehogs with Aled Roberts scoring a hat trick Paul Nichols a double and Terry Brennan picked up one win with Aled and Paul also taking the doubles. James Peel won two for the Hogs and Phil Hackett one.

ACC A drew 5-5 with Kingsley C with Pete and Chis Gibbs scoring doubles and Duncan Brudenall won one. For Kingsley Reza Mafi scored a maximum and Terry Spurgeon won one. Reza combined with Clive Appleton to take the doubles .

Saints had a 6-4 win over Gayton with Nigel Thompson scoring a maximum and Mick Henderson and Mick Allen both won one . Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson also took the doubles for Saints. For Gayton Suraj Ajit and David Allen both won twice for Gayton. 

DCA Tigers beat Headlands Hawks 6-4 with Robert George scoring a maximum and Ricky Bastin and Greg Norden both won one with Robert and Greg had a 11-9 fifth set win in the doubles to take the victory. John McMahon and Mayur Shah both won two for the Hawks. 

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares remain top after a convincing 10-0 win against ACC B. Sue Moloney, Trevan Vass and Alan Creed all recorded hat tricks with Sue and Trevan also combining to win the doubles.

Headlands Herons moved up to second after a 6-4 win against DCA Lions. Keith Parsons and Steve Bashford both won two each while James Bashford won one. Keith and James then combined to win the doubles. In reply for the Lions, Katy Armstrong and Fred Wakefield both won two each.

Bridge are now third after beating DCA Leopards 7-3. Colin Haddon led the way with a hat trick while Wayde Sheppy won two and Eugene Nolan won one. Wayde and Eugene also combined to win the doubles. In reply for the Leopards, Mark Bradbury won two and Ian McIlwaine won one.

Headlands Hyenas beat Headlands Hornets 6-4 thanks to Dave Smith winning three, Graham Dove winning two. These two then combined to win the doubles. In reply for the Hornets, Trevor Little won two while Steve Battison and Gwyn Powell won one each.

 

Week 10 - W/C 20th November

Premier Division

Kingsley B had an unexpected win against Park Avenue who had only two players. Andy Harrison and Tony Wharton both beat Gerald Henson  and then combined to win the doubles for Kingsley while for the Avenue Jamie Chamberlain won all three and Gerald won one to make the final  score 6-4 to Kingsley.

Westfield Dragons carried on their winning ways with an 8-2 victory over DCA Panthers with trebles from both Nick Howard and Dan Smalley and two from reserve NIcole Bird. For the Panthers Ray Kingston beat Nicole and the teamed up with Martin Hall to win the doubles. Alec Kingston had a real tussle with Nicole and only just lost by 12-14 in the fifth set. This match was played the following week.

Kinsley A hammered Headlands Harriers by 10-0 the closes match being the doubles with Brian Wooding and Tony Woodward beating Auch Demeter and Ian Baldock 11-5 in the fifth set. 

DCA Flyers and Northampton Hares fought out a 5-5 draw even though Guy Sparrow hit a hat-trick for the Flyers. Jordan Wood added one when she defeated David George but the Hares hit back with two wins each by Pawel Juraszczyk and Maggie Welsman while David Georeg beat Jack Fisher. This gave the Hares the advantage at 5-4 but Guy and Jordan squared the match by beating Pawel and Maggie in the doubles 

 

Division 1

Headlands Hawks had a 5-5 draw with Saintswith Hartley Hancock and Mayur Shah both winning twice and also combined to take the doubles. Nigel Thompson and Mick Henderson both won two and Mick Allen one for the Saints.

DCA Eagles beat Gayton 8-2 with Aled Roberts and Frank Whiteley scoring maximums with Paul Nichols winning one. Aled and Frank also took the doubles. Richard Pringuer and Suraj Ajit both won one for Gayton.

DCA Tigers had a 10-0 win over ACC A with only two games needing an extra end. Robert George Greg Norden and Oleg Plugaru all scored trebles with Greg and Oleg also taking the doubles. 

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares remain top after an 8-2 win against Headlands Herons. Alan Creed led the way with a hat trick while Sue Moloney and Graham Shaw both won two each. Alan and Sue then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Herons, Keith Parsons and James Bashford won one each.

DCA Leopards moved into second place after a 10-0 win against ACC B. Ian McIlwaine, Felix Machin-Bradbury and Mark Bradbury all winning three each, with Ian and Mark then combining to win the doubles.

Headlands Hornets won 6-4 against Bridge who were a player short. Alan Dale and Bob Underwood won one each with Alan then teaming up with Trevor Little to win the doubles for the Hornets. In reply for Bridge, Colin Haddon won three while Aaron Donoghue won one.

Headlands Hyenas beat DCA Lions 7-3 with Dave Smith winning three, Graham Dove winning two and Paul Dzialak winning one. Dave and Graham also teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Lions, Katy Armstrong won two and Sue Armstrong won one.

 

Week 11 - W/C 27th November

Premier Division

Kingsley B had another useful win this week when they beat DCA Flyers by 8-2. Andy Harrison scored a  hat-trick with wins over Guy Sparrow, Andreas Sateka and Jack Fisher. Then Reza Mafi and Andy Law both gained braces, while Guy won his other two matches for the Flyers. The doubles went to five sets but was narrowly won by the two Andy's who beat Guy and Jack 11-8 in the fifth.

Headland Hares beat a two man Park Avenue side by 7-3 with Pawel Juraszczyk being unbeaten in the singles and Steve Hobbs and David George both beating Gerald Henson. For the Avenue Jamie Chamberlain won and teamed up with Gerald to take the doubles.

 

Division 1

League leaders beat 2nd placed Saints 7-3 with Robert George and Greg Norden both scoring hat tricks and Ricky Bastin won one. For Saints Mick Henderson and Nigel Thompson both won one with Nigel combining with Mick Allen to take the doubles. This was Tigers 11th consecutive win and they are 34 points ahead of Saints.

Headlands  Hedgehogs had a 6-4 win over Gayton with Phil Hackett scoring a maximum and James Peel and Steve Fuller both winning one and also took the doubles. For Gayton Richard Pringuer and David Howard both scoring doubles.

Headlands Hawks beat ACC A 8-2 with Mayur Shah and John McMahon both bagging hat tricks and Hartley Hancock won one and teamed up with John to take the doubles. Chris Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall both won one for ACC.

Headlands Hares extend their lead at the top after a 10-0 win against DCA Lions. Sue Moloney, Graham Shaw and Alan Creed all recorded hat tricks with Sue and Graham also teaming up to win the doubles.

Bridge moved up to second after a 7-3 win against ACC B. Steve Carroll led the way with a hat trick while Joseph White and Eugene Nolan both won two each. In reply for ACC, Michael Shannon won two singles and then teamed up with Dave Kerslake to win the doubles.

Headlands Hyenas drew 5-5 with Headlands Herons. For the Hyenas, Dave Smith won three and Graham Dove won one. They then teamed up to win the doubles. For the Herons, James and Steve Bashford won two each while Keith Parsons won one.

 

Week 12 - W/C 4th December

Premier Division

Hat-tricks by Nick Howard and Dan Smalley helped Westfield Dragons defeat Northampton Hares but the Hares offered some resistance with Steve Hobbs and Pawel Juraszcxyk both beating Matt Horrocks. Matt won his other singles event against David George and Nick and Dan won the final doubles  making the final score 8-2.

Park Avenue beat Headlands Harriers by 6-2 with a hat-trick by Jamie Chamberlain and two from Gerald Henson who also teamed up to win the doubles. For the Harriers Auch Demeter beat Gerald. the other three points being forfeited by the Avenue.

DCA Panthers and Kingsley B fought out a close 5-5 draw. Martin Hall and Ray Kingston both won two each for the Panthers while Andy Harrison and Scott Dixon did likewise and Andy Law added one for KIngsley to give them a 5-4 lead after the singles. In the doubles Martin and Ray beat Andy Law and Scott in four sets to square the match.

 

Division 1

Gayton beat ACC A 7-3 with Richard Pringuer scoring a maximum David Howard won two and David Allen one with David Howard and Richard Pringuer also taking the doubles. For ACC Chris Gibbs won two and Duncan Brudenall won one. 

DCA Tigers beat Kingsley C 9-1 with John Stamp taking the solitary point for Kingsley. Robert George and Oleg Plugaru both scored hat tricks for the Tigers and Greg Norden won twice also taking the doubles with Robert George.

Saints had a 8-2 victory over DCA Eagles with Mick Henderson scoring a hat trick and Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson both scoring twice and these tow also took the doubles. Frank Whiteley won both points for the Eagles. 

 

Division 2

Headlands Hyenas beat ACC B 7-3 thanks to hat tricks from Graham Dove and Dave Smith, who then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for ACC, Michael Shannon, Julie Neal and Dave Kerslake all won one each.

DCA Lions beat Headlands Hornets 6-4 thanks to a hat trick from Katy Armstrong and a double from Sue Armstrong. Katy and Sue then teamed up to win the doubles to clinch the match. In reply for the Hornets, Steve Battison won two while Bob Underwood and Trevor Little won one each.

 

Week 13 - W/C 11th December

Premier Division

The match of the week was the clash between the Premier Division leaders, Westfield Dragon and Kingsley A, especially as Kingsley had drafted in Steve Silk to play his first match in the Northampton League for some time. Steve duly won his three singles against Nick Howard, Dan  Smalley and Matthew Horrocks and Brian Wooding beat Nick Howard. However Dan and Matthew won two each and Nick added one more to give the Dragons a 5-4 lead. Brian and Tony Woodward then combined to beat Nick and Matthew in three sets in the double to square the match at 5-5.

 DCA Panthers beat a two man Park Avenue by 6-4 with two wins by Martin Hall and one by Ray Kingston while Jamie Chamberlain gained a brace and Gerald Henson one for the Avenue. The latter pair also won the final doubles.

Kingsley B had a good win against Northampton Hares with two wins each by Tony Wharton, Andy Harrison and Andy Law. For the Hares Pawel Juraszczyk hit a hat trick and also combined with Maggie Welsman to win  a five set doubles by 11-9 in the final set.

 

Division 1

Saints had an 8-2 victory over ACC A with Mick Henderson and Nigel Thompson both scoring maximums and Mick Allen won two. Chris Gibbs won one and took the doubles with Duncan Brudenall for ACC.

DCA Eagles beat a two man Headlands Hawks 7-3 with Paul Nichols winning two and Terry Brennan and Frank Whiteley both won one with three points conceded. Mayur Shah won two for the Hawks and teamed up with Sam Lunn to take the doubles.

Gayton had a 9-1 win with David Allen and David Howard both scoring maximums and Richard Pringuer won two and also took the doubles with David Howard. Terry Spurgeon scored the Kingsley point. 

 

Division 2

 

Headlands Hares recorded another win in beating Headlands Hyenas 6-4. Trevan Vass and Sue Moloney both won two singles each and then teamed up to win the doubles while Alan Creed chipped in with one win. In reply for the Hyenas, Dave Smith won three and Luke Coleman won one.

DCA Leopards are third after a 7-3 win against Headlands Herons, who move up to second. For the Leopards Ian McIlwaine and Mark Bradbury both recorded hat tricks and also combined to win the doubles. In reply for the Herons, Keith Parsons, James and Steve Bashford all won one each.

ACC B won 6-4 against Headlands Hornets. For ACC, Michael Shannon won three, while Julie Neal and Dave Kerslake both won one each. Michael and Dave then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Hornets, Gwyn Powell and Steve Battison both won two each.

DCA Panthers could only win one of the singles events against Northampton Hares with Martin Hall beating David George. Pawel Juraszczyk and Steve Hobbs both recorded hat tricks for the Hares and Dave won two. However against the run of play Martin teamed up with Ray Kingston to defeat Pawel and Steve in the doubles making the match score 8-2 to the Hares.

Kingsley A beat a two man Park Avenue side by 8-2, the Avenue's points coming from Jamie Chamberlain's against Chris Stone and partnered by Gerald Henson a doubles victory against Brian Wooding and Tony Woodward.

Top of the table Westfield Dragons beat DCA Flyers by 7-3 with reserve, Nicole Bird hitting a hat trick, two wins by Nick Howard and one by Matthew Horrocks, the latter pair also combining to win the doubles. For the Flyers Guy Sparrow won two and Jordan Wood one.

In a rearranged match Kingsley B beat a two man Park Avenue side by 6-4 despite a treble from the Avenue's Jamie Chamberlain, who also teamed up with Gerald Henson to win the doubles.

Dave Smith and Luke Coleman both won three each and combined to win the doubles while Graham Dove won one for the Hyenas. DCA Tigers lost their first game of the season when they were forced to play two players from Div 2. They were beaten by Kingsley C  7-3. Ivor Howard won two  and Fred Wakefield one for the Tigers. Terry Spurgeon scored his first hat trick of the season with John Stamp winning two and Clive Appleton one. Clive and Terry also took the doubles for Kingsley.

DCA Eagles beat Saints 7-3 with Aled Roberts Frank Whiteley and Paul Nichols all winning two with Frank and Aled also taking the doubles. For Saints   Mick Henderson Mick Allen and Nigel Thompson all winning one.

Headlands Hares remain top after a 9-1 win against DCA Leopards, with the Hares trio of Trevan Vass, Sue Moloney and Alan Creed all recording hat tricks. The doubles was won by Leopards pair Mark Bradbury and Ian McIlwaine.

Headlands Hyenas moved up to second place after a 9-1 win against Bridge. The Hyenas Luke Coleman and Dave Smith both recorded trebles and then teamed up to win the doubles, while Graham Dove chipped in with two wins. Steve Carroll won one in reply for Bridge.

Headlands Hornets beat DCA Lions 7-3. The Hornets trio of Alan Dale, Bob Underwood and Gwyn Powell all won two each with Alan and Bob also teaming up to win the doubles. Fred Wakefield won three in reply for the Lions.

DCA Eagles drew with Headlands Hawks with Paul Nichols and Aled Roberts both scoring doubles and also combined to take the doubles. For the Hawks Mayur Shah scored a hat trick with John McMahon and Hartley Hancock both winning one.

Headlands Hedgehogs beat DCA Tigers 7-3 with Dave Smith scoring a hat trick Phil Hackett a double and James Peel won one. James teamed up with Dave Smith to take the doubles for the Hogs. For Tigers Greg Norden won two and Glen Davison one.

Gayton beat Kingsley C 7-3 with David Allen scoring a maximum Jim Brogan a double and Richard Pringuer won one. David and Richard also took the doubles. For Kingsley Scott Dixon won two and Terry Spurgeon one

Saints beat ACC A 6-4 with Nigel d Mick Allen winning two also taking the doubles and Adam Bradshaw won one. For ACC Pete Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall both scored doubles.

Headlands Hares remain top despite losing their first match of the season 4-6 to Headlands Hyenas who remain second. For the Hyenas Dave Smith won three while Luke Coleman and Graham Dove won one each. Dave and Luke then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Hares, Sam Lunn and Trevan Vass won two each.

Saints beat Headlands Hedgehogs 6-4 with new signing Gabor Toth and Nigel Thompson both scoring twice with Mick Allen winning one also taking the doubles with Nigel. For the Hogs Phil Hackett won two and James Peel and Steve Fuller both won one.

Headlands Hawks beat Kingsley C  8-2 with Mayur Shah scoring a maximum and John McMahon and Hartley Hancock both won two and these two also took the doubles. John Stamp scored both Kingsley's points.

DCA Eagles beat ACC A 7-3 with  Frank Whiteley and Paul Nichols both scoring hat tricks and these two also took the doubles. Chris Gibbs Pete Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall all won one for ACC.

Gayton with only two players lost 8-2 to top of the table DCA Tigers. Glen Davison and Rob George both won two with Greg Norden winning one and teamed up with Robert George to take the doubles  with three points conceded . David Howard won one singles for Gayton and combined with Richard Pringuer to take the doubles.

DCA Tigers in first place beat Saints in second place 9-1 with Oleg Plugaru and Robert George both scoring hat tricks with Greg Norden winning twice and taking the doubles with Robert George 13-11 in the deciding end against Nigel Thompson and Mick Henderson. Gabor Toth scored Saints point.

Kingsley C drew 5-5 with DCA Eagles with Scott Dixon scoring a maximum and Terry Spurgeon a double. For the Eagles Frank Whiteley won two with Paul Nichols and John Crawford both winning one . Frank  and Paul took the doubles to secure the draw.

DCA Tigers beat Headlands Hedgehogs 9-1 with Robert George and Oleg Plugaru scoring trebles with Greg Norden winning two. Greg and Robert also took the doubles. Phil Hackett scored the Hogs point. 

Bottom placed ACC A did well to get a draw in their match with Headlands Hawks. Chris Gibbs and Duncan Brudenall both scored doubles and also took the doubles. For the Hawks Mayur Shah and Hartley Hancock both won two with John McMahon winning one.

Division 1 champions DCA Tigers beat clubmates and second placed DCA  Eagles 8-2 with Robert George and Oleg Plugaru scoring hat tricks and Greg Norden won two. Paul Nichols won one for the Eagles and took the doubles withb Terry Brennan 13-11 in the fifth.

Headlands Hedgehogs drew 5-5 with Kingsley C with Phil Hackett and reserve Luke Coleman both winning two and they also took the doubles. John Stamp scored a hat trick for Kingsley with Terry Spurgeon and Clive Appleton both winning one.

Gayton drew with ACC A 5-5  with David Howard winning twice and both Richard Pringuer and Suraj Ajit won one with David and Richard also taking the doubles. Duncan Brudenall scored a maximum for ACC with Chris Gibbs winning two.

A two man ACC A beat Kingsley C 6-4  with Chris Gibbs scoring a treble and Duncan Brudenall a double and these two also took the doubles. John Stamp won one for Kingsley and three games were conceded.

Division two champions Headlands Hares won their final match of the season 7-3 against Headlands Herons. Trevan Vass and Alan Creed won three each with Sue Moloney joining Trevan to win the doubles. In reply for the Herons, James Bashford, Keith Parsons and Steve Bashford all won one singles each.

Headlands Hyenas beat ACC B 9-1 thanks to hat tricks from Dave Smith and Luke Coleman while Graham Dove won two. Dave and Luke then teamed up to win the doubles. Michael Shannon won one in reply for ACC.

DCA Leopards won 6-4 against DCA Lions who were a player short. Felix Machin-Bradbury won both his matches and teamed up with Mark Bradbury to win the doubles. In reply for the Lions, Sue Armstrong and Fred Wakefield won two each.

Bridge beat Headlands Hornets 7-3 thanks to a treble from Steve Carroll, a double from Aaron Donoghue and a single from Alex Brown. Steve and Alex then teamed up to win the doubles. In reply for the Hornets, Alan Dale, Bob Underwood and Gwyn Powell all won one singles each.

Bridge beat Headlands Herons 9-1 thanks to hat tricks from Steve Carroll and Colin Haddon who also teamed up to win the doubles, while Wayde Sheppy chipped in with two wins. Keith Parsons won one in reply for the Herons.

Headlands Hyenas beat DCA Leopards 9-1 with Luke Coleman and David Smith both recording hat tricks and also teamed up to win the doubles. Graham Dove chipped in with two wins. Felix Machin-Bradbury won one in reply for the Leopards.

DCA Leopards beat ACC B, who were a player short, 10-0 thanks to Ian McIlwaine, Mark Bradbury and Felix Machin-Bradbury remaining unbeaten. Mark and Felix also teamed up to win the doubles.

Bridge and Headlands Hyenas, who were a player short, drew 5-5. The Hyenas points came from Dave Smith who won three with Graham Dove winning one. Dave and Graham also teamed up to win the doubles. Steve Carroll and Eugene Nolan won one each in reply for Bridge.
