League Update 19th Feb
Shock results in the Premier Division of the Northumbria League saw NESLC Eagles and Saint Chads both suffer defeats at the hands of Newcastle Communities and Springwell respectively, Clara Chau and David Tang both won all of their singles and combined to win the doubles to beat the Eagles team of Steve Penman, Jim Stamas and Richard Wilson. Colin Hunt got a hat trick for Springwell, defeating Marc Cotton, Jimmy Scope and Barry Cuthbertson  and was backed up by Dave Pringle  and Alex Smith with two singles sets each as well as the doubles.
There were also shocks in the first division with Tyne Dock going down 7 - 3 away to Riding Mill A thanks mainly to a hat trick by Andrew Firth and Old England Jacks losing out at North Fire B 7 - 3 when Karen Henry was unbeaten for the home side. Mark Kimberley was in fine form for Byker B, winning all of his sets to help his side to a 7 -3 success to move them away from the foot of the table.
The top two teams in division two were both involved in drawn matches, Mortimer being held by Old England Crocks and Cramlington Cobras sharing the points away to Newton C.  YMCA North Tyneside B were back to winning ways with a 6 - 4 win over Ouson A.
Cramlington Corinthians team of Alastair Johnson, Robert Swinburn and Joe Swinburn gained their first win of the season by defeating fellow strugglers Ouston B 7 - 3 to move out of the relegation places.
Third division Cramlington Swifts take over at the top of the division after overcoming Whitley Chapel and Cramlington Spartans with Diane Cartmell unbeaten in both matches but Old England FATTS are only two points behind them with a game in hand.
Sacriston Comets still lead division four following a 10 - 0 victory over Ouston D  and Newcastle Communities B team moved clear of Matfen C in second spot after beating them 8 -2, Chen Ji and Yi Chau once again proving to be too good for this division.
