League Update 14th October

Cramlington Stingers and Saint Chads had a hard fought match in the Premier Division of the Northumbria League which ended up all square at 5 – 5. Kevin Wilson won all of his matches for the Stingers and was backed up by Iain Wood who got two. Dave Bissett, Jimmy Scope and Chris Blake all got on the score sheet for the Saints by defeating Gareth Pearson,  standing in for David Graham, and Bissett beat Wood in a marathon match which saw Wood come back from two games down and losing 7 – 10 in the third end before eventually going down 10 – 12 in the fifth. Wood also went the distance in his other two sets, losing a two game lead before beating  Blake 13 – 11 in the decider and coming from two games down against Scope to win in five.

Chu Yin Yu was unbeaten as the Chinese Association defeated Newton A 6 – 4 and Dave Robson recorded a hat trick to give Byker A a draw away to Springwell B.

Riding Mill A team of Mark O’Connor, Peter Stempczyk and Maurice Cheek made it four wins out of four to lead Division One by beating Matfen A 7 – 3.

The Chinese Association C team have won all of their matches in Division Two, their latest being a 7 – 3 success against Newton B with Mark Patterson undefeated. Sacriston Aces,however, are currently top.

In Division Three Stefan Sobell won all of his sets for Whitley Chapel who came away from YMCA N.Tyneside 7 – 3 winners while Nick Ng did likewise for Old England FATTS who beat Brandon 8 – 2.

Jamie Milroy and Dave Nicholls were both on form for Division Four leaders Ouston C who accounted for Cramlington Magpies 8 – 2.
