League Update 11th March
The Northumberland Veterans team of Eddie Smith, Dave Robson, Geoff Salter
and Karen Henry were in fine form at Halifax in the final session of the
Veterans County Championships beating Cheshire seconds and Yorkshire thirds
8 - 2 and 9 - 1 to win division 2A and gain promotion. Having won all of
their matches in the first session the victories meant that they had won
every match.
Springwell B team lost their 100% record in division two of the Northumbria
League when they visited Cramlington Trojans. who had Paul Jamieson in great
form, winning all three of his matches against Caron Guthrie, Mike Hope and
Springwell's new signing David Fosberg. Paul Fairlamb and Mark Patterson
both beat Hope. The result helps to ease the Trojans relegation fears with
Old England FATTS losing 7 - 3 at Birtley for whom Mike Bradley was unbeaten
in singles and doubles, and Saints losing by the same score to Cramlington
Swifts. Joe Swinburn was the player in form in this one winning all of his
singles and the doubles with Diane Cartmell.

victories over Old England Jacks and Cobras.
