Division 1

After 4 weeks, Wolvey A have started to flex their muscles and have moved into the top spot 6 points ahead of 2ndplace Ambleside E, and already a break is showing between these 2 teams, and those underneath them. Wolvey have beaten Boys Club A, and NALGO D both by a maximum 10-0, with only 3 of the 20 sets going to more than 3 games. It is no surprise to see their regular players, Jon Williams, Aiden Walsh and Mick Allsopp all unbeaten at the top of the averages. Ambleside E is the only other unbeaten team in this league, but they have had to work hard over the last 2 weeks with a 7-3 win over NALGO B, and a close 6-4 win over bottom placed Crescent A, who have been bolstered by the arrival of Earl Sweeney who took all 3 of his sets, without dropping a set, so I would expect to see them moving back up the table. The crunch match for the top two teams will come in week 5 when they meet for the first time this season. Boys Club A and NALGO B share 3rdspot, and Stockingford B are still looking for their first win of the season, but came close when they  went down 6-4 to Boys Club A, with Mark Perkins clinching the final singles to remain unbeaten on the night, and joining with Dave Rudkin in the doubles to snatch a draw away from Stockingford. Stockingford also met the other Boys Club team B and went down 7-3 to them, with Bob Whittaker providing the only points for Stockingford  with a maximum haul.

Division 2

This division still remains fairly close, with only 4 points separating the top 3 teams, and only 4 points separating the next 4 teams. Ambleside H remain in top spot, although their sister team Ambleside A did their best to spoil matters losing closely 6-4 with new boy, Aaron Riley of ‘H’, taking a maximum to keep him unbeaten at the top of the averages.  Ajax Wolvey C are in 2ndspot, having continued their unbeaten run, which came close to ending when they played 4thplaced NALGO E, and won 6-4 – Steve Brough had a great win against the unbeaten Pete Morris, eventually  beating him in the 5thset.  As in Division 1 week 5 should prove interesting when the two top teams meet. Stockingford A are only 1 point behind Wolvey C, although they suffered their first defeat to Wolvey C by 7-3, but then had an easier win 10-0 against bottom placed Ajax Wolvey B, who are still looking for their first win of the season. NALGO E are in 4thplace and only 1 point ahead of their sister team NALGO F, although NALGO E have suffered  two 6-4 defeats at the hands of Ambleside A  and Wolvey C.

Division 3

Ajax Wolvey D are now in top spot having beaten former leaders Crescent B in week 3 in a tight match by  6-4. Farhan Bham took Paul Ryall’s unbeaten record, but then lost his own unbeaten record to Geoff Taylor who picked up a hat trick of wins to maintain his unbeaten run and remain at the top of the averages, although Crescent C are only 2 points behind, and have had 2 good wins against two Ambleside teams beating the ‘F’ side in a close match 6-4 with Akbar Razak taking a maximum haul, and following this with an easier win 10-0 against the ‘B’ team. Ambleside D find themselves 1 point behind Crescent C in 3rdplace, having had 2 easy wins against 2ndbottom team Ambleside B by 9-1, and taking all the points 10-0 against bottom placed Ajax Wolvey E. Crescent B and Ambleside F are a match behind the rest of the league so find themselves mid-table but not too far behind the leaders. Boys Club C have put out a full team over the last 2 weeks, and have moved up the table from bottom spot into 6thplace. Ambleside B and Ajax Wolvey E are in the two bottom places and are still looking for their first win of the season.
