Division 1

It has been business as usual for Wolvey A with 2 more 10 – 0 whitewashes beating Crescent A and Boys Club A in the last 2 weeks. With 4 more matches before the end of the season it looks like they have the league already wrapped up. They lead 2ndplace Ambleside E by 27 points, although Ambleside still have a game in hand, but they maintained the pressure by also whitewashing the unfortunate Stockingford B, who are still looking for their first win. The top 2 places look well secure as the 3rdclub Boys Club A is sitting 19 points behind Ambleside. Apart from their meeting with Wolvey they also met their sister team Boys Club B and just managed a 6-4 win, although the B side put this result behind them the following week with an easy 9-1 win over Stockingford. The two NALGO sides have had team problems, and so far this year have been unable to play a match, which has seen the two teams drop down the league, but once these matches are brought up to date, then I am sure they will begin to move back up the league.

Division 2

Again the leaders in this league, Ambleside H look to have the league title sewn up as they have extended their lead to 16 points over 2ndplaced Wolvey C, and have had two 9-1 wins over NALGO F in 3rdspot, and bottom placed Wolvey B. Bill Rowley emulating the undefeated Aaron Riley with a maximum for Ambleside in both matches. Wolvey C were beaten 6-4 by Ambleside A in a tight match with the majority of the games being played to 5 sets, but Lee Bennett of Ambleside proved to be the difference winning all his 3 games. Wolvey C bounced back the following week with a 10-0 whitewash over Stockingford A. NALGO F are in the chasing pack where only 1 point separates the next 3 teams. NALGO F played their own E team before their big loss to Ambleside H, and honours were shared in a 5-5 draw. Fire Brigade follow 1 point behind, and they have had two close 6-4 wins against Stockingford A and Wolvey B, and Steve Smith and Steve Leonard of Fire Brigade weighed in with a maximum in each respective match. Ambleside A are on equal points with Fire Brigade and followed up their 6-4 win over Wolvey C with a similar win over NALGO E. Wolvey B find themselves well adrift in bottom place, with NALGO E and Stockingford above them fighting to avoid joining them in the relegation zone – this will become clearer when they play each other in the one outstanding fixture in this league.

Division 3

Crescent B have extended their lead at the top of the league, partly due to a previous result being overturned in their favour, but also with a 10-0 win against Wolvey E, although 2ndplaced Wolvey D are not giving up without a fight, and in a top of the table clash, Wolvey D overcame the leaders with a narrow 6-4 win, Paul Ryall of Wolvey proving unbeatable on the night with a maximum. Wolvey D also met Crescent C and came away with a 7-3 win, Akbar Razak providing the resistance with a maximum for Crescent.  Despite this loss, Crescent C have leap-frogged Ambleside F into 3rdspot, but are 16 points behind Wolvey, and did themselves no harm by beating Ambleside F in a close 6-4 match. The previous week Ambleside F had whitewashed their sister team Ambleside B, who continue to find life hard and are stuck at the bottom of the league, and there was no sympathy from the other Ambleside team, the D team who also beat them 10-0! The D team played Boys Club who are one place above them in the league and despite only having 2 players, still managed a 5-5 draw with Mo Shafi making a maximum. Boys Club followed up this result with a 10-0 win over the club second from the bottom, Wolvey E.

League Individual Knock Outs
