2016-17 Week 5

Division 1:

Saddleworth B run wild against Werneth. Duncan Hadfield and co. playing superbly well to close the gap on Hollinwood A to 2 point and they continue their undeafted start to the season.

Kyan Chin has well and truly picked up where he left off last season; our Oldham Championship winner has won 12 out of 12 this season and with Birley Moss having a game in hand on their rivals, they could go top if they win it. Their 5-5 game against Honeywell A saw Darryl Meredith win 2 and the doubles to grab the draw.

Glodwich also won 10-0 against Coldhurst A this week with Khamal Hussain picking up MOM for last year's champions! The result says 10-0 but Coldhurst played incredibly well and deserved more than they got.

Division 2:

With Unison B having a week off, Hollinwood B took full advantage to go top of Division 2 with a 9-1 win over Honeywell D, with Kim Lee claiming 3 wins along with Ped Mckinstry.

Stephen Hilton won 3 for Hyde B as they beat Coldhurst B 7-3, Harry Lewis putting up a brave fight with 2 wins for Coldhurst. A closely fought game between Grotton A and Hyde A took place with Ken Ward taking MOM with 3 wins for Hyde. Honeywell C took 7 points to Hollinwood 'C's 3 as Peter Fowler went unbeaten to claim MOM.

Division 3:

Gordon 'Bennet' Jennings, the superstar. Gordon has been pushing for a Deaf  'A' team place with two exceptional unbeaten matches this week, he was MOM in his first venture  for the 'B' team against Uppermill in a 7-3 loss but two days later, he turned out for Deaf 'A' in a 10-0 battering of Hollinwood D to push last season's Division 2 side up to second place with a game in hand on Gilders, who lost 7-3 to Unison C, with Eddie Kalinowski claiming MOM.

Unison D lost 7-3 to Honeywell F with MOM Adam Rowbotham keeping his 100% record with 3 wins, but Sophie Newton ran him close in their match up. The junior 'D' team are going to be a handful this year.

Division 4:

Uppermill 'C' rise to the top, with David Harthan claiming MOM with 3 wins in their 6-4 win against Grotton B. They were all incredibly close matches in the 4th this week, with Coldhurst, Owls 'A' and Hollinwood 'F' winning 7-3 against Hollinwood 'E', Owls 'B' and Deaf 'C' respectively. It's all heating up, this is definitely a division to watch.

Not many points seperate the teams near the top, Hollinwood 'F' aren't far behind and will be hoping to close the gap next week when they play Hollinwood 'E'.

Division 5:

Denshaw 'A' beat Hollinwood 'H' this week 9-1 with Gary Kershaw picking up 3 and the MOM along with Daniel Bretten and his 3. Gareth Hey picking up the 1 for Hollinwood. The flip reverse for Denshaw 'B' and Hollinwood 'G', Hollinwood winning 10-0 and Peter Chappell picking up MOM, although it could have gone to any of the team. Exceptional stuff from them.

Denshaw 'A' are 12 points clear and have only dropped 3 games this season, they are going to be tough to beat.
