Division 1
Birley Moss consolidated their 2nd place in Division 1 with a 6-4 win over Saddleworth A. Kyan Chin was again the only unbeaten player, supported by Miles Benjamin winning 2. Jordan Potts 2, Ian McClean and Nick Money each scored 1 for Saddleworth A.
Saddleworth B in 3rd place had a narrow 6-4 win over Hollinwood A in 4th place, Nathan Buckley and Matthew Evans each won 2 and Paul King 1, with Barry Elliot unbeaten for Hollinwood A and 1 for Matthew Shaw.
In the interclub match at Honeywell Lane, Darryl Meredith 3 supported by Simon Hardwick and Gary Newton with 2 each for the A team winning 8-2 against their B team with Father and son Rob and Paul Carter each scoring 1.
Yet another 6-4 result when UNISON A travelled to Werneth A. Brian Hallsworth and Andy Hey each winning 2 and Mike Brierley 1 coming out on top, with Werneth’s Mick Pellow undefeated and Karen Hill winning 1.
The final game in Division 1 saw bottom club Rosehill go down 4-6 against Coldhurst C. Simon King 3, Simon Walsh and Steve Hattaway scoring 1 each for Coldhurst. Simon Collins and Phil Ashworth each responded with 2.
Division 2
Hollinwood B in top position managed a narrow 6-4 win over next bottom Stanley Square. Kim Lee with 3 and Ian Gerrard and Paul Hutchinson scored 1 each for Hollinwood, with Glenn Chadwick 2 and 1 each for Glenn Dowse and John Robertson responding for Stanley Square.
Honeywell C outplayed Hyde YMCA 10-0. With Lukasz Maciejewski, Peter Fowler and Tommy Ryan
achieving a clean sweep.
Unison B inflicted a convincing 9-1 victory over Coldhurst B. Andrew Tarpey and Jacob Reilly-Cooper both achieved maximums and Brian Huskinson winning 2. Harry Lewis replied for Coldhurst.
Hollinwood C in 4th position travelled to Grotton A in 5th place and managed a 6-4 win.
Dave Jefferson 3, Paul Hutchinson 1 and Joe Redikin 1 scored for Hollinwood, with Steven Oliver 2, Dave Morris 1 and Lionel Royle 1 replying for Grotton.
Division 3
Top of Division 3 Deaf A narrowly lost away to 3rd place Honeywell F 6-4. Adam Rowbotham 3,was supported by Peter Ganley and John Rutland who scored 1 each, overcoming Deaf’s David Varney 2, Liaquat Ali 1 and Gordon Jennings 1.
Unison D youngsters in 2nd place comprehensively beat a strong Uppermill B team 9-1. Alex Darlington and Sophie Newton were unbeaten and Joss Hudson scored 2. Mark Simpson with 1 was the only winner for Uppermill.
Hollinwood D managed a 6-4 win against Gilders, with George Marrow and Terry Osman with 2 each and 1 for Sasi Venkataramanan plus the doubles outscored Gary Keylock 2 and Mark Craven and Martin Nichols each with 1 win.
Honeywell E were comfortable 8-2 winners against Deaf B. Abigail Griffiths 3, Rod Hughes 2 and Brian Hall 2 scored for Honeywell, with Gordon Jennings and Matthew Gartside responding with 1 win each.
Division 4
Hollinwood F were 8-2 winners over Owls B with Sasi Venkataramanan scoring a maximum and supported by Bernard Mills and Paul Rourke with 2 wins each. Gerald Lennox offered the only resistance with 2 wins.
In a clash of the top 2 teams Uppermill C consolidated their leading position with a 7-3 victory over Owls A. Keith Moores and David Harthan both scored maximums and Stuart Hanson 1. Colin Ogden and Alex Torkington won 1 each for Owls.
In 3rd position Hollinwood E lost 6-4 to the 4th club Grotton B for whom Neil Tomlinson and Steve Smith both won 2 and Alan Sarsfield 1. For Hollinwood James Collier 3 and Barry Collier 1 responded.
Division 5
Hollinwood G consolidated top spot with an 8-2 victory over Pollards B. Peter Chapel 3 and Paul Whyatt and Richard Osborne both contributed 2. Lee Godfrey replied with 2 wins for Pollards.
Unison F kept on the heels of leaders Hollinwood G with an 8-2 victory over Owls C. Brian Eaton and Angelo Robies led the way with maximums supported by Jamaal Akhter with 2, Sudip Chatergee replied with 1 win for Owls.
Denshaw A in 3rd place lost valuable points against Our Lady’s with a 5-5 draw. David Renton and Daniel Bretton both score 2 and Andrew Tyas 1 for Denshaw, with Mark Englander 3 and Marty Englander 1 replying for Our Lady’s.
Coldhurst D managed their 1st win of the season with a 6-4 victory over Denshaw B. Geoff Beard 3, and Derek Taylor with 2, plus the doubles managed to outscore Denshaw with Gordon Allen 2 and husband and wife Graham and Christine Nield with 1 win each.
