Hi everyone,

due to Simon King moving away, Coldhurst A had a shortage of players and requested to join Hollinwood's club. This has been accepted in the 1st Division to keep the teams at 11 and Coldhurst will now play their games at Hulme Grammar School as Hollinwood-Coldhurst.

Division 1

The main issue in Division 1 was the relegation battle with the 3 protagonists being Uppermill A, Unison A and Rosehill. Uppermill struck first blood when defeating a below strength Coldhurst A, who were struggling with injuries, by a 7-3 scoreline. All the Uppermill team of Gary Crossley, Dave Grundy and Mark Simpson all won 2 whilst Simon King’s treble for Coldhurst was in vain.

What a phenomenal day at the Oldham Closed Championships.

We started off with the Over 40s, Over 50s and the Juniors in the morning, Alex Darlington winning his Junior group by beating Sophie Newton in the group stage but with Sophie finishing 2nd in the group, they avoided each other in the semi-final and met again, with Alex looking to win the Junior title for a 2nd consecutive year and Sophie looking to get her first Junior title, it was Sophie who prevailed in 4 sets, winning 3-1.
