A team scrape 4 points at Byker

Thursday nights visit to Byker saw Mike, Jamie and Neil have a tough match against a strong Byker team. Mike played very well to pick up two points against Mark Kimberley and John Donnelly and Jamie picked up a win against John Donnelly and Neil somehow coming from behind to beat Mark Kimberley but he doesn't know how as he struggles to find form hampered by a long term knee problem and painful shoulder joints that make it difficult playing consistently. Neil and Jamie lost the doubles in 5 ends and in hindsight Mike should've played instead of Neil.

man of the match Steven Dickinson made fine use of his one sided pimpled rubber and fast attacking rubber on the other side dispensing of all three Ouston players with some fine blocking and aggressive forehand shots. As always Mike ended up very frustrated against this kind of player and it shows we need to be able to cope with players who are well versed in the use of pimples to pick up the points.

To summarise there were four 5 end games and three 4 end games so it is still painfully obvious that we are playing close to good enough to make progress in the league but unfortunately it is looking more and more like Ouston A are matching the two North East Premiership football teams by just not being quite good enough to stay up.

Next game is against Riding Mill away on the 22nd or possibly before that a re-arranged game against fellow relegation contenders Matfen who are 7 points ahead but more worrying have two games in hand!
