After Week 5

It’s hard to believe we are already a quarter way through the season, but we are beginning to see which teams and clubs are hoping for top honours at the end. Ball Green A top the Premier Division, Penkhull B and C teams head Division 1 and MESC E and D teams are ahead of the rest in Division 2, but only Ball Green A and Penkhull B and C still have 100% records.

The youngsters are the ones having 100% individual records in Division 2. Ball Green’s Daniel Brownsword is one, along with Lucas Clarke, Hamish Howard and Stefan Derricut from the Kidsgrove D and F teams. Chris Bailey and Paul Malkin are undefeated in the Premier Division, with Robert Rhodes and Robert Majkut from the Penkhull B and C teams in Division 1 also unbeaten.

Bradwell A, Ball Green A, Crewe P.O. and Ball Green B  all had wins in the Premier Division, as did the two Penkhull teams in Division 1, along with Kidsgrove B, who share third place with Ball Green E, themselves having a 7-3 win over Bradwell E.

Down in Division 2, Kidsgrove D only just managed to beat their own E team by 6-4, but MESC D had a 9-1 win over Bradwell G. Divisional leaders MESC E, were held to a draw by Ball Green H, down in fifth place but with a game in hand and Daniel Brownsword gained a maximum for the H team, along with two from Keith Evans. But it was the doubles that held the key and it went the way of the visiting MESC E team with Frank Hibbert and Reg Robinson having an easy win, proving that the doubles is just as important as a singles win and it kept the E team in top spot in this division.
