Countdown for the half way stage has begun with only 2 weeks of matches left before we can see who will be the contenders for top honours and which teams have to up their game, but there are some great matches in prospect to savour.

The Ball Green A and B teams dominate the Premier Division with Bradwell A moving up into the third spot after a 6-4 win over Penkhull A. Crewe Post Office now drop to fourth after a 9-1 defeat by Ball Green A, with Steve Stringer gaining the odd game for Crewe.

Penkhull B retain the top place in Division 1 after an 8-2 victory over Fenton, whose Neil Rowley earned both the two points. Ball Green E’s team have started to turned up the pressure in second place after a 10-0 win over Bradwell F and the Penkhull C team, whose Robert Majkut still has a 100% record remain in third, after a stunning 9-1 win over Kidsgrove B, themselves fancied to challenge for promotion at the start of the season. John Dawson was the one to gain the one point for Kidsgrove, with Robert Majkut and Robert Rhodes earning maximums and John Askey two, together with the doubles. MESC C were surprising held to a draw by lowly Bradwell D. Next week, bottom team Bradwell E take on Ball Green G, themselves only just above the relation zone, while Fenton take on visitors Kidsgrove C, themselves in the danger zone.

MESC D’s team of Joe Allen, Elliott Evans and Margaret Riley imposed their intentions in Division 2 with a 10-0 win over Kidsgrove E and remain top, but only on sets averages, with Ball Green K sharing the points. Next come the Kidsgrove F and D teams, with the MESC E team pushed further down into fifth place. Next week MESC D take on bottom team Penkhull D, but second placed Ball Green K travel to face the Kidsgrove D team, who last week moved up from 6th to fourth, on Monday and both teams are looking to win.
