The recent tournament held on April 22nd with the finals night on April 26th produced some excellent results for Queens players.
The Ladies final featured Fallon Thompson against Blanka Bimi with Fallon coming out on top to win the final which she last on in 2015. Scores being 11- 3, 11 - 1, 11 - 9.
The Ladies Doubles saw Fallon and Blanka team up to defeat Celia Hooker and Sue Purton. All four players being members of Queens, a fact I cant remember happening before. The scores were 11 - 9, 11 - 7, 9 - 11, 11 - 6.
The Mixed Doubles again saw Fallon Thompsom paired this time with Dave Joyce and in a very close match with Celia Hooker and Sam Ricks from the Hannington Club. Fallon and Dave produced a fine display to win the trophy. The scores were 11 - 6, 9 - 11, 14 - 12, 12 - 10.
The Division 3 competition saw Ian Parkyn of Queens defeat Paul James from KG Club as he did previously in their league match. Ians progress this year has been exceptional showing that the practice he puts in has well and truly paid off. Scores were 11 - 5, 11 - 9, 11 - 5.
In the Junior competition Ian Parkyn also prevailed, this time against last years winner Simon Parker from the Aldworth Club. This match went to 5 sets with Ian taking the last set 11 - 5.
In the Handicap final Melvyn Lovegrove had 16 points start but could not repeat some of his earlier victories and the steady James Wright came out on top by 31 - 26.
Queens Club should be very proud of the players efforts and special reference must be made for Fallon and Ian who produced some excellent performances during the finals.
