Gordon Crutchfield

With sadness I have to report the news that Gordon Crutchfield passed away earlier this week in Royal Berks Hospital.

Gordon started playing in the Reading League for NIRD in 1969, then for part of the 1970’s he played for Wokingham and played for Sonning C&P for a few years before ending up playing for teams at Royal Berks Hospital. He also served on the RDTTA committee from 1970 to 1975 as a DFS.

Gordon was a colleague of mine at Thames Water, then with the Environment Agency for many years and was a regular at the Thames Conservancy social club, although he never played for the TCSC table tennis teams.

Known as “Jock” to many, he always kept himself fit - he could often be seen jogging around parts of Caversham & Emmer Green - and was refereeing football matches until recently.

Gordon was a real character who will be remembered and missed by many. Our thoughts are with his wife, Jane.
