Reigate Roystons Table Tennis Club is open for play most Monday evenings.
It is run by Peter Buckell (07840 139136, firstname.lastname@example.org)
All players are welcome to come along, pay a small fee and enjoy social table tennis or serious practice against a range of League players – all standards are catered for.
The Junior session runs from 6.00 PM until 7.00 PM when it becomes an open session until 9.00 PM
It is based in Gym 3 of the Reigate School, Pendleton Road, Reigate, RH2 7NT. To access the Gym turn left at the entrance, then park in the designated bays on the right hand side. Continue to the end of the building, turn right and go through 2 metal mesh gates. After approx. 50 metres you will see some steps and glass doors on the right. The gym is on the left just after the doors.
The club is for practice only; however should you wish to play in league matches you can be put in touch with other local clubs that enter teams in the Reigate, Redhill and District Table Tennis League.
Craig Bryant of Top Edge delivered a coaching session to 12 members on Mon 6th Aug. All who took part felt that it was a very worthwhile exercise. Unfortunately Craig is moving out of the area soon; however due to the success of the event it is hoped to organise another one in the next few months, albeit with a different coach.
I have negotiated with the school to obtain an extra 30 mins playing time for Roystons. From the 24th Sept the main gate will be locked at 9:45. Therefore the open session will run from 7 to 9:30 however could all players please assist by finishing slightly earlier so that the tables can be stored away by 9:30. This allows 15 mins for the building doors to be locked.
Although the school have increased the hire rates on both gyms (to cover the overtime) currently there will be no increase in playing fees or membership costs. However it was agreed at the AGM to discontinue part session rates. Therefore the cost per session from 24th Sept will be £2 plus £1 non-member fee regardless of the amount of time played. This extended time is primarily to accommodate league matches which will start at 7:30 promptly to ensure a 9:30 finish. However I envisage that it will be all year round. Therefore it is proposed to increase the membership fee to £12 from next April.
Also I have talked with the school about parking. They confirm that parking is not permitted outside the Gym and currently there are no plans to introduce bays in that area.
